never...which makes me wonder why they don't change the name or why they bother having doors...

For the most part never. There are a very FEW that do close but that is very rare.
The name comes from when they were open from 7 am to 11 pm which were considered very liberal hours at the time and they just never bothered to change the name.
They have to have doors in case they get robbed.

NEVER thats the great thing if you get the muchies at 3 in the morning you can always count on 7-11

probably during power outages and natural disasters. Other than that, they're open 24 hours.
