You send a letter to the secretary of the church you attended and ask her to transfer your membership to the church you are going to. Provide them with the name of the church and the address. Usually your church secretary will write a letter for you. Tell her about it. You must first become a member of the church you are going to.

Most churches have a formal process for "resigning" your membership. Some terminate membership automatically when members fail to meet the obligations of membership while others simply make the member "inactive".
If you have a copy of your membership papers, they may specify this process...if not, call the church you joined and ask. For some churches at least, it is a simple process of writing a letter saying that you want to resign your membership...that's what my parents did when they left the Methodist church we attended when I was in jr. high.
I won't comment on your reasons beyond suggesting that only you can decide whether there's any value in specifying your reasons in your resignation letter...you might want to ask God what he thinks before you put something else in writing that you might later regret.
BTW, please consider reading a book called Unchristian by David Kinnaman...you might find Chapter 5 especially interesting.

You have probably found another assembly to attend. You should have a meeting with the pastor of the church you are going to and tactfully tell them the reasons why you would like to become a member of that church. They can petition the other church to release you from that membership in order to become a member in good standing with the new assembly.

You can:
--Just leave and don't show up anymore, eventually they will take you off their membership (but that takes about 2 years)
--Write a letter to the pastor and the membership committee chairperson, stating your desire to not be a member anymore, effective immediately
--Join another church, and have the secretary from the new church send a "transfer of membership" letter to your old church.

I just stopped going.
It seems you want to make a scene, send a message, get your point across that you don't like transgendered people or homosexuals.
By "officially" you mean you want to make a big fuss.
The best way to do that is to wait until Christmas eve then strip naked and with a bag of horse dung dance on your dominant leg in circles, sprinkling the horse dung in a slinging motion on the steps of the chruch while chanding "Whooo Ha, Whoooo Ha, I leave you, I leave you, I leave you for more fertile ground."
If you do this just after the main morning service on sunday, the pastor and congregation will all understand that you might not be coming back.
Be sure to invite the media to cover it.
Then go into your closet and prey for god knoweth your illness long before thee.

i wasn't aware of the UMC's policy on homosexual & transgender pastors. you might want to look into that a little bit more.
if you want to transfer your membership to another congregation, simply contact your home congregation and ask them to send a letter of transfer to your new congregation.

Where are you going Shmuel?
I was not aware that the Methodists have abandoned the teachings of John Wesley.
I don't know of any church that upholds everything the Bible teaches. They ordain lesbians to hold prominent church positions, permit adorning and lewd clothing in church, teach against God's ten-commandments that safeguard His sovereignty, teach traditions of men as Bible facts, and quit protesting against Catholic injustices.
The Bible says people will be looking for the truth and not able to find it. A Bible code re-orients us to truth, but where is a church that teaches it? Enjoy you hunt, after breaking the Bible code at http://abiblecode.tripod.com
Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

Just go somewhere else and establish a membership there. You don't have to have permission from anyone for this.
Nobody really can tell you where you are or are not a member...that's between you and God.

JUST STOP GOING THERE. I CAN'T SAY THAT I BLAME YOU FOR WANTING TO LEAVE. IT SAYS IN THE BIBLE THAT A MAN SHALL NOT LAY WITH ANOTHER MAN, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE THINK THEY CAN GO AGAINST GODS WILL, BUT YET STILL MAKE IT IN TO HEAVEN. YOU DO NOT NEED PERMISSION TO GO TO A DIFFERENT CHURCH, GOD GAVE US FREE WELL TO MAKE OUR OWN DECISIONS AND HOPED THAT WE WOULD MAKE THE RIGHT ONE
