If electicity costs 0.05/kwh, how much does it cost to run this appliance?

a 1200 W dishwasher for 1 hour

Multiply your power * time to get kWh, then multiply your cost per kWh times kWh.

1200W = 1.2kW
time = 1 hour

$0.05 / kWh * 1.2kW * 1 h = $0.06

1200 watts is equal to 1.2 kilowatts and your electricity cost .05 cents per kilowatt hour. So multiply 1.2kw X .05 and it cost .06 cents per hour to operate
