first pray that God will guide you what to say. second go to the Word always. when he tries to get you to read any other book outside the Bible tell him you are only interested in the truth and that you only believe in the Bible. there biggest argument when proven wrong is that the Bible is mistranslated. however there book of mormon has been changed more times then the Bible. and does not even say the same thing anymore as its first edition. the Bible is still the same and has been proven as well. some words have changed but still mean the same thing. and there book has been around a lot less time then the Bible has.

Please, let me correct you on a few things....

1. Mormonism IS a cult.
2. Mormons are NOT Christian.

Yeah, I know... thumbs me DOWN on this, but it is the TRUTH. Please read the article cited below for complete details as to WHY they are a cult and HOW they differ from the truth Christian faith. JUST because someone "mixes in" Christ into their faith does NOT make it a Christian faith..... just as a Muslim. They acknowledge Jesus, but don't call THEM Christians!!!

I'm glad you call yourself a "rookie" Christian. It's good to know that you are aware that you do not know as much of your faith/beliefs as someone who has learned for years. Don't be discouraged or disheartened by it or the comments made to slight you.

As for your mormon friend, it is best to learn as much about mormonism as you can. There are some good publications, beginning with the one cited below. Look in your library, but don't be surprised if you do not find books that are "anti-mormon" on the shelves. I have worked at three libraries, and I know for a fact that mormons STEAL these anti-mormon books from libraries JUST so others are UNABLE to INFORM THEMSELVES. Yes, folks, this is a FACT!!! I know first hand of such thefts, and heard of many others. If mormons do not have anything to "hide"... then why does this happen? What are the afraid of?

Good luck, my friend. Tell your friend that you do not wish to discuss religion at this time... before you educate yourself about the mormon religion. Otherwise, you might find yourself at a disadvantage. mormons are very well versed in what to say and how to "counter" any anti-mormon arguments. Don't go head-to-head until you are, yourself, well-informed.

Have a blessed day.

I am a mormon and I doubt that he/she is trying to convert you. They are prohably just eager to share their beliefs with you. Don't be defensive. We want to come to middle ground on so many issues. Share your views and let them share theres. then look in the bible and with prayer to find the true one. THey are a christain and a friend not someone trying to brainwash you.

Tell him "No". Just tell him you don't have the same beliefs and you have no desire to listen to what the Mormons believe. Let him know you can be friends, but you have no interest in leaving Christianity and the denomination (or non denomination) that you have picked that matches your beliefs.

There is a great book called one nation under God's by Richard Abanes. It tells the history of the Mormon church with hundreds of footnotes from mostly Mormon or historical sources. It is one of the most interesting books I have read and reads out like a movie. The information in it cannot be easily denied as I have mentioned it cites many Mormon scholars and actual historical articles and even court records. Hence the thumbs down. It is important to not be fooled by their claim that disagreeing or questioning their beliefs is being anti-Mormon. If that were true then the same rule would apply to them. They would be anti-Christian for disagreeing or questioning your beliefs. That argument works both ways to those who are fair minded.

Mathew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

You're friend seems to be following this commandment and is trying to share what he has found with you. Listen to him with respect and share your beliefs. Maybe you'll both benefit from the exchange.

God answers prayers, right???

Take a look at the Book of Mormon and ask God if it's true or not.

If God tells you it's false, then tell your friend that. If God tells you that it's true, then you may want to listen to what he has to say.

Research the Mormon faith and what they believe. It won't take long to uncover the fact that your friend is involved in a cult.

Edit: Do not go to the official Mormon sites. I studied with the Mormons for many months, then disproved their religion to them to their faces. From their OWN writings. Two of them called me on their own (when they were able to break away from the others) and are now true Christians following the true Christ.

If you'd like me to send you more information, let me know. My email is open. Remember, you're friend IS involved in a cult that does scare people out of leaving. I'm more than happy to help you bring your friend out of this in any way I can.

Well Mormons ARE Christians

And you can say "no thanks, I'm not interested"

Your friend should back off.

-------------

Do what linnie said, but make sure it's from reputable sites like www.lds.org or www.mormon.org. There is alot of anti-mormon stuff out there. You can also ask the missionaries ANY question and you will get an answer.

The same way you approach anyone else.

"Hi, how are you? Having a nice day? What's up? What are you doing this weekend?"

And so on and so on and and so on
