My martial arts teacher told me that I needed to get my uniform to snap or pop when I preforms my techquies. How do I get to to do that? I'm a yellow belt in taekwondo.

What he means is that your movements should be quick, precise yet not over the top where you lose balance. Find that medium. Not as hard as it sounds, with the more advanced forms as you progress you will learn better technique, from then you can just practice if you need to.

Hi there

This ones another myth that teachers for some reason pass down from one generation to another. Some will argue that by performing proper technique and focusing at the right moment will cause the gi to make a snapping sound. But just read over what I've just written and you will see just how ridiculous it sounds. Why does it make any real a difference what noise your clothes make when you fight? This is type of thing can also be found in traditional karate. But if you still want to know the secret just do what all the top instructors do. Go out and buy a good high quality heavy weight Gi that creates more friction when you move creating a crisper sound.

Best wishes

He's referring to the sound your uniform makes when you do certain moves espcily kicks. It happens when you put the right amount of power into the move. You may not be able to literaly get it to snap at your belt beacuse your uniform is made of much lighter meterial then ones say black belts wear, so I'd bet he's not talking about the sound as much as the power.

That just takes time but think of it like a towel and how soft it is until it reaches the end then it tightens up and that 's when you hear the snap, just like your punches they to must be soft until just before impact then tighten them up and if you punch correctly you will hear the snap.

Your instructor wants your movements to be "Snappier"
This is a big deal especially in forms.
Put some snap in your performance.

two things do that for you

1 SPEED , be fast at all times

2 relax then explode into moves

most uniforms are stiff enough that a good crisp punch will make yoru sleeves pop
