When I stand around...even for just a few minutes, I start feeling really weak and hot - to the point of sweating - and my legs feel "heavy." If I'm in line somewhere and can't sit down, my heart starts pounding and I feel dizzy. I eventually have to lean on something or squat down because I feel like either my legs will give out or I'm so dizzy that I will pass out. And...I'm only 22 YEARS OLD! Anyone else have this problem? ps: My blood pressure has always been right on target (if that helps).

It sounds like you have postural hypotension where your blood pressure falls if you remain standing for any length of time because of pooling of blood in your lower extremities. The way to confirm this would be by checking your blood pressure while lying in bed, sitting and standing. A significant drop in blood pressure while standing would confirm it. Try working your legs while standing and see if that helps with your symptoms.

I agree with Vinay K. You may have postural hypotension even though your blood pressure tests have always been normal -- because usually blood pressure tests are taken when you're sitting down. If you stood up while having a blood pressure test, you might find that there was a sudden significant drop in blood pressure. Your symptoms seem pretty severe and you should see a dr.

Postural hypotension can be benign, but can be caused by such things as general illness, fasting, hyperglycemia, dehydration, or a reaction to medication.

Wow, more information is needed. How long have you been experiencing these symptoms? What have you been doing to recover from the problem? How long does it last? Is there any family history of heart disease, diabetes, anemia, etc? Have you had any bloodwork done lately? A thorough medical evaluation and bloodwork would be a good start for an accurate diagnosis and treatment.
