About as refreshing as a cup of sand in the desert.

I don't make much of being an atheist. That is just the only thing that makes sense to me. I find almost any mumbo jumbo about the supernatural to be counterproductive to human curiosity, as it tends to retard scientific endeavors to unravel the secrets of the Universe. While we can never know everything , (what would the curious do then?), I find the challenge invigorating.

Added after reading some theist crap posted here!
I've just been reading the hate spewed by the religious nuts here. I'm 70 yrs old & I've never seen the kind of hate todays religious community spews in my country. People of my generation respected what others believed or didn't believe &, being freedom loving Americans, didn't try to ram their belief down everyone else's throat. I say cut off the tax breaks these political hacks get for spewing their crap to the gullible... that will get them where it hurts & impact their ability to buy a Bently next year.

Well actually Atheism is rather comical, please I'm not ridiculing you, far from it. It's just that most pleading atheists do exactly what they attack and quite frankly not many of them are as logical as they claim to be. Here are some of my favorite a-thiest thoughts:

"I Lack belief in a God"
If you say that atheism is simply lack of belief in a god, then my cat is an atheist the same as the tree outside and the sidewalk out front, since they also lack faith. Therefore, the definition is insufficient.
Lacking belief is a non-statement, because you have been exposed to the concept of God and have made a decision to accept or reject. Therefore, you either believe there is a God or you do not...or you are agnostic. You cannot remain in a state of "lack of belief."
If you lack belief in God, then why do you go around attacking the idea of God? If you also lack belief in invisible pink unicorns, why don't you go around attacking that idea?

"There is no proof that God exists"

To say "there is no proof for God's existence," is illogical because an atheist cannot know all things by which he could state that there is no proof. He can only say he has not yet seen a convincing proof; after all, there may be one he hasn't yet seen.

"All of Science has never found any evidence for God"

That is a subjective statement. There are many scientists who affirm evidence for God's existence through science.
Your presupposition is that science has no evidence for God, but that is only an opinion.

Science looks at natural phenomena through measuring, weighing, seeing, etc. God, by definition, is not limited to the universe. Therefore, it would not be expected that physical detection of God would be found.

By and far most humans claim to be "atheist" when if fact they are not.

Don't you find the answers to this question posted by some of the so-called "Christians" entertaining? Makes you want to rush to the nearest mega-church and join 'em so you can have "enlightened" attitudes like theirs!

They are refreshing, actually. It's always nice to know that there are still a few people thinking out there. If I were to try and think of something stale, I might have to say text lingo, you know, 'OMG'?

I find this whole atheist love fest very disgusting. I am just not religious but atheism has become an ideology about being anti-religion. I have an open mind about spiritual issues and I find atheism is very closed minded about those things. Atheists can be just as closed minded as any religious group.

it is a relief to not have to worry about every move i make, day in and day out, and have to think "is this going to prevent me from getting into heaven? will this anger god?"

very refreshing and liberating indeed.

It can be, especially if you live or work with very religious people. Even if those people aren't preachy, it is nice to be able to speak freely with other atheists.
