I just got an email from an individual berating as being fake and a liar for a kind word I gave to another because I am an atheist. In this individuals mind I coouldnt possibly be a king or gentle or caring person because I dont believe in god. However, I must point out that my atheism causes me to be kind as I know the only thing my fellow humans have on this earthis each other. If we dont look out for each other and attempt to helpone another I dont believe there is anyone else to do so... I just dont get people at times.

You have never been anything BUT kind and caring. Don't listen to ignorant people like that and never change who you are. Peace.

I just say I am happy that you are so kind.
A label is a label, a human is a human.
Your heart is beautiful, it is in the right place, that is all that matters. In my opinion, I think that people should always be more loving, less judgmental, and more accepting of any difference. Whether that be monetary, spiritual, nationality, or color, it is only a title, only skin deep in comparison to love of one another.
I am going to marry an atheist and to see the intolerance that he goes through is inhumane, and heartily I am sorry that you or anyone else has to suffer it either.
Hugs to you, for being a wonderful human being!

It really sucks that people have to be mean to atheists, because some atheists are nice. People are mean to them because about 97 percent of the population does believe in God, and those who don't believe do not have the same morals as the rest of the population.

I don't care who is being nice to me- I just appreciate the niceness. Christians could ask the opposite. "why are atheists so taken aback when a Christian is simply kind to someone"?

Most non-Christians view Christians as ppl who attack others and dislike others who aren't like them. That's a stereotype just like the other. While I may not agree with others, I don't try to badger them into being like me and I still have respect for them and have no problem getting along with everyone as far as religion goes.

It's a sad sign of how indoctrinated some people are.

They think that in order to be a whole, kind, loving human being you have to be religious and Christian and whatnot.

They hear "atheist" and they picture someone sitting in a dark room, cutting their arm with a knife, and listening to Rob Zombie over and over again while they cry and groan and moan about how lonely and miserable and filled with hate they are.

I had a girl tell me not to long ago, that I MUST be agnostic. Because I was too nice to be an atheist. So the fact that I'm nice means I can say I don't know, But I can't say I have no belief. Crazy.

That person probably doesn't act so kind and it probably made them mad/guilty that how dare an atheist be better than them, it can't be it must be a lie...

Maybe instead they should have looked at it as a lesson, either to look at their own behavior or to see people in a new light.

Kindness, or the lack there of, is not demonstrated by any one religion. There are very sweet kindly atheists; as there are some very sweet Christians, Jews, Muslims, Pagans etc...
As is there are many NO So sweet, kindly folk out there.
Our actions are not guided by our faith, but our decision to believe and worship God helps us to better understand Him and in turn ourselves.

I am a Christian, but I am not so ignorant to think that athiests cannot be nice people. Just because people don't have the same beliefs does not mean that they are going to be horrible people.

Though I have always wondered where Athiests get morals from, since most derive them from religion.
