CA drivers licence has two pictures - a larger one on the left and a smaller one on the right. They are the same image. What is the purpose of the small one?

How does small picture help with security? It's the same image... I don't understand.

thats a good question! my friend asked that not to long ago...but u know how they have ur full name on ur license...well my names so long that they had to put my name nest to the side of the smaller picture otherswise my name could have cut off my upper head

The two photos are for security purposes.
The smaller photo is on the background. It is impossible to change/tamper the licences.
Almost all goverment IDs has two photo's.

It's for security. It would be harder to make a fake license with the small one.

it's a security photo so it can't be altered

one is when u got it and the other one probably when u upgraded
