I'm thinking of buying a male ocicat kitten and need to know what size he will likely grow to be. Also, does anyone know about their habits/temperament ?

Thanks

Hi there...ocicats tend to be larger than the typical tabby house cat. Their temperament is very much like a house cat. They are however noted to be more dog like in loyalty to their owners. The Ocicat is not a demanding cat. Most are very outgoing not at all shy about scouting out the possibilities to play or visiting with new house guests.

You can read more about the ocicat and their temperament/habits from the following websites:

Ocicats tend to be quite a bit larger than the typical tabby cat. They are more like the size of a Maine Coon (if you are familiar with that breed). However, don't let the size fool you. The ocicat is a very loyal, friendly (even to strangers), lovable cat. For the most part, you can't go wrong in choosing this breed. However, you must take the ordinary precautions such as NOT playing exceptionally rough with your kitten--they grow up fast, and if they are taught to play rough, this can be lethal when he becomes a full grown cat. Good luck on your choice for a good companion.

Ocicats are the largest of the pedigreed shorthaired cats. They can be anything from 10-15 pounds in a lean and muscular cat, and of course a lot bigger if allowed to get fat! They are much more dense in muscle than the average tabby. While the occasional household pet will get to be this big, most are smaller, 6-9 pounds in females and 8-10 pounds in males (at an ideal weight, which, unfortunately, most cats aren't).

Ocicats have no wild blood, having been created from a combination of Abyssinian, Siamese and American Shorthair. They are the best of their ancestors' personalities. They are very affectionate, playful, personable and generally more outgoing than the average cat. They'll greet your guests and play with your children. They do require more attention than the average cat - they want to be included in your activities. Most don't fare well if left for long periods or if you travel often.

I LOOOOVE the names Hunter and Chase!!! ...and it matches so well with Sky, Panda, Pearl, and Ruby! I also like "Rocky", "Rayne" (or "Rain") (hense the medium-long grey hair!), "Thunder", and Stormy". If I were to choose out of Hunter and Chase, I absolutely LOVE the name "Chase" for a cat! =) "Hunter" is a nice, strong name to fit your other cats though too! Good Luck and Happy Naming!!! =)
