I have a great french onion soup recipe but it gives everyone gas. What do I need to change in the recipe to fix this?

put a little baking soda in the soup....just a pinch should do it...

You can't change it, it's the onions that provide the sound of music lets say, It's like having a great bowl of chili, you can delete the beans but then it's not the same. Onion soup is onion soup, just don't be around your dinner guests in about 3 to 6 hours or so. either that or purchase a really big fan.

I would assume, its maybe the cheese, a ton of cheese irritates my stomach, so maybe, use less cheese or even switch to a different kind? I cant think of anything else in french onion soup that would give 'everyone' gas, cheese is a pretty common one though.

It's like with beans. You have to freeze it before eating.
On the other hand, gas is very expensive nowadays and onion soup and beans will give it for free.

Get some Beano? Few drops on the soup before serving might work. Its a digestive enzyme and it has little taste, maybe a bit like dilute soy sauce.

I have to agree about the Beano beforehand, you really can't keep anything that is predominantly made with onions from being gassy to my knowledge. Onions are just one of many vegetables that produces gas.
