because some are insecure in their beliefs so they think if they discredit others it will validate themselves.

This is a silly question...its not fair when people make statements that they cant possibly have proof for. Unless you know EVERY atheist in the world, how can you say that "most" of them try to disprove others. There are some christians who try to disprove atheists, and that is the same thing. Both believe they are right....agree to disagree

Many times we DON'T try to disprove anyone. It just becomes a part of the conversation when we are asked about whether or not we believe in God, and we answer that we don't. Once we say that, it usually becomes a massive argument. In today's culture, it doesn't seem to be alright to NOT believe in God. You get attacked if you don't. Well, attack me, and I attack back. It's that simple.
Other times we simply get sickened by other people's beliefs. I do! When I hear that stem cell research is vetoed yet again because of our president's religious beliefs. When I hear that there's a push from the religious right to have prayer in school. When I have to explain to the pretentious stranger who comes peddling his religion at my doorstep. When I hear that gay marriage is suppressed yet again. When I see some idiot carrying a "God hates f a g s" sign. And, yes, when my child has to say "Under God" --words that were added by fundies in the 1950s--every morning at school in the Pledge of Allegience. When I'm told that America was formed as a Christian nation (study history--it wasn't).
Perhaps if *certain* believers learned that not everyone appreciates superiority complexes shoved into their faces, we might step off at trying to discredit them.

I know many atheists. We do not do this.Atheists, like me,don't disprove others. My little brother and I are atheists and we don't disprove people by saying 'God is not real.'' They believe and we have nothing against them for believing. Like maybe i hate pickles an my art teacher loves them. Simple, simple. We just don't believe. I believe the scientific theory of evolution.Maybe people wanna believe that one guy and girl whatever their names are.It all depends on what we believe. Atheists are not 'wussies.' We are people who do not think like you. Like Shintoists and Christians.

You have no basis for saying that most do. I certainly don't. The most you can say is a large percentage of atheists on YA try to disprove others.

What do you expect to get out of this? It's been asked a billion times, and people of all walks of life do it. I don't think it comes down to what a person believes...rather the need to change the view of others is centered in oneself and a unattractive need to make other people believe what you do.

Well, if believers (esp Xians) just kept their beliefs to themselves and went about their lives everything would be fine.
But you don't.
You want to proselytize and impose your religious ideology and interpretation of morality on those who don't share your beliefs through laws and political power.
I object to that.
In a nutshell...you started it.
Plus it's just good clean fun

atheists are haters and want the freedom to hate. the neutral people don't believe and don't get involved. atheists are disbelievers, not neutral, they go against people that believe and against people and society's that exclude them. we exclude them because our religion excludes haters and any society weather religious or not should have the right to exclude haters. sometimes atheists compromise a religion to kill and cause havoc, then religions get the blame. atheists claim to get involved because they care. those are just fancy words to manipulate.
If atheists were not trying to disprove us then why are there so many here in this section?
and the more they click thumbs down, the more I prove my point.

Why are Christians constantly trying to get us to believe in your god? Why are you always trying to convert us or doom us to your hell?
I'm not saying all Christians do this...but many, if not most, do.
