I think the best legacy parents can leave to their kids is raising them up with good moral values, good education and giving them unconditional love and quality time from the time they were born.

I think the best legacy a parent can leave for the child is total education. Total education is that kind of education that starts from the home, teaching the child good morals, morals that are backed by the word of God (Bible), and ensure that the attends good school where he /she can know how to read and write perfectly, and communicate very well without any form of timidity. Such child should be able to prove to the outside world that he /she had proper home training.

A legacy would have to be defined. Most consider money. Ethics might be another. Someone said that if you can read then you can learn and do nearly anything. Literacy and education rate fairly high.
In my case, I want my legacy to be a solid relationship with God and with Christ Jesus. That has the benefit of ethics, education and intelligent use of money. It doesn't hurt that caring for others in a meaningful way happens as well. You can't change the world, but you can change how you interact with the world.

I think the best legacy you could leave for your children is to teach them to have respect for themselves and others. Teach them to love, and to high values. Dont ever settle and the most important leave them with a memory of a loving and nurturing childhood.
I for one am going to leave a legacy of Jesus for my children. I want them to see me having a relationship with Jesus, and to see me on my knees praying. I will pray with my children and let them know God is always there for them.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it"
(Proverbs 22:6)

Spend quality time talking with your kids about the values that are important to you. Tell them stories of the things you did right and the things you did wrong and what you learned from them.
Be a good role model.
Teach them to be resiliant because it is a tough world out there.

Happy & funny memories. Pictures... I love the fact my father took tons of photos of us as kids. When I hear someone mention that they have no pictures of themselves as a kid, there is a sadness in their voice. Not money like some brats would have the balls to ask for.

Words of wisdom from my ancestors ;
Home should be a wonderful place - just not so wonderful they never want to leave.
You raise your children, not for you, or them, but for your grandchildren.
Raise them honest, giving and kind. Spend time not money. Give them values and limits. Love them every day no matter what, and tell them you do!

There is no legacy that helps more than cold hard cash.
Barring cold hard cash, instill them with character and honesty and a desire to work.
This may get them over the fact that you left them broke.

I think that parents have a list for their children:
money,
affection,
good habits,
good name in the society,
good education,
good settlement in life.
but basically parents desire to leave all the 'good' to children.
