When someone wakes up and realizes everything is pointless and begins to question the dogma that's been shoved down her or his throat for the past however many years, this is called "depression", and is quickly medicated.
Depression is everyone's favorite "disease" about which to spout off "signs and symptoms".
Conditioned Individual: "Depression is not only a mental disease, but also a physical one (as though mental functions are some special sauce added onto the physical brain). Do you feel like life is hopeless? Do you feel alone? Does the fact that you're going to one day cease to exist regardless of how you live your life bother you? You might be (sane) depressed."
How about this: I don't consider you sane *unless* you've sat down to honestly contemplate suicide at least once. "To be or not to be?" isn't a permitted question anymore, apparently.

I dealt with depression for almost 10 years, and these were my symptoms:
- Lack of motivation to do anything, even eat.
- A "heavy" feeling inside, like my insides had turned into stone.
- Tired and wanting to sleep all the time.
- Not caring at all about things that were usually important to me.
If you want or need more information, you can IM or email me.
