Buddhists & Buddhism have nothing against beards, but do strive to follow the naturally "easy" path, so in the East, shaved heads and chins are the norm & are considered "clean". In the West, a shaved head can attract attention (and promote vanity or self-absorbtion). A goal is to dissociate from the material world and its distractions, and hair is often a subject of pride or vanity. Buddhist monks and nuns may shave their heads as an outward sign of renouncing the world. Shaven heads and faces are associated with cleanliness. Some Western teachers avoid shaved heads because they can create discomfort in the general population.

We have nothing against beards -- we just don't have rules requiring beards to prove our devotion. Also, in some Asian strongholds of Buddhism, hair was seen as a sign of your worldly attachment, and cutting off your hair-knot or shaving yourself bald was a sign that you'd cut ties from the "worldly" society and gone to join the spiritual path. Anyhow, I've never understood why the presence of facial hair or lack of it should matter -- your daily conduct should be a bigger indicator of spirituality.

Not that I know of . Buddhism teaches love & compassion. Bearded or not doesn't really matter. Buddhism believes that every single life is sacred. You must have met or heard it from so called Buddhists.

no idea, I read nothing in my study of the Pali Canon against beards. I know that plenty of Chinese have beards, and the majority religion in China is Chan Buddhism.

beard causes imbalance of the subtle ying and the more evident yang by mixing the ethereal elements of skin and hair causing ones karma to shift too far in the direction yang and thus making it impossible to achieve enlightenment. And it also makes you look like a muslim, and just doesn't work fashionistically with the orange robe.

Nothing, it's just that many Buddhists are Asian, and less Asians can grow facial hair than Caucasians :)

That's like asking what Christians have against premarital sex. There's nothing wrong with it, some people just believe different things
