when I applied for Washington Mutual, and went through an interview, they called me a week later and said I need to do a drug and background test.....and I got hired!.......I think that if you pass the test then they will hire you!....im pretty sure! There must have been something (or everything) that they liked about you, otherwise they wouldnt have sent you to do the test....
by the way, were did you interview? what job?
GOOD LUCK!

Most companies do not check references, do a drug test, or do background checks unless they intend to extend an offer as these require time and money; most often drug tests are done immediately after an offer is extended. I would take all this as a good sign, but remember that strange things can happen and people can get denied at the last second for any reason so don't go buy yourself a new car just yet.

They aren't likely to say you are hired until all results come back, but unless they intended to hire you if everything checked out, they probably wouldn't have sent you for the drug test or done the background check.
Good luck.

Generally a company will not go through the expense of background checks and drug screening, if you are not AT LEAST a finalist. This is the experience of my girlfriend and I. In my opinion, if the checks and tests come back ok, you have a 95-100% chance of getting the job.

You are going to have to wait another week. Companies are being more careful these days about who they promise jobs to, so they do the whole thing...background check/reference check (Which also means sometimes checking your consumer report/credit record) and drug test to make sure they have someone who doesn't have issues that will affect the work environment and your performance there. No, you don't have a job offer yet. Call them in a week to find out what's up. Say you are following up on your application.

Companies would not do these things if they are not going to extend you an offer; especially since you've done all the dances with the 2 interviews and all.
It's just that they are being very careful because once they hire somebody, it is a MESS trying to fire the person. So that's the reason.
That job's as a good as yours. Now unless you were a badass back in highschool, you'll be fine.
