At one level, it's talking about the Jewish religious establishment Jesus was interacting with. Here he was, performing miracles, healing the blind, raising the dead, and all they could "see" was some magician who threatened to take away their power over the minds of the common people. They could perceive the physical facts, but they repeatedly assigned the wrong spiritual meaning to them. At another level, this is really speaking to all of us. Without spiritual life, given as a gift from God, we are likewise trapped in a closed system universe, where the reality, beauty, and worth of God remain hidden from us. Only when we are born from above do we gain spiritual sight. As Paul says:
"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." 1Corinthians 2:14

Oh sure Ma'am. I do certainly hear those sounds and notice those attractions. i will scent the hay up interior the loft, experience it as I flop all the way down to take a seat down back my weary leg from the long journey. yet I pay it no ideas, for those attractions, sound and smells are soothing to me. Why there is Cowbell already warmin' up with somebody playin' a banjo, who's that, i won't be able to truly see reason they are status close to the door and the sunlight because it strikes to set is slightly plenty for my eyes. The issues that an mind's eye can do, have a good time that and doubtless some day, they'll come real.

When some people hear or see something they don't realize what they are hearing or seeing, because they are without the spirit of God. So although some hear the same words of God and see the same miracles, because they don't have Gods spirit dwelling in them they can't really see or hear it the way God intended. Gods word is for every body. But you have to open your heart and mind to it before you can hear or see it clearly.

I think you mean the passage in Matthew 13:13-15. It talks about the light of truth. Understanding the truths of the Bible are only possible if they have been revealed to you. And believe it or not, unless they are fulfilled, they cannot be manifested or "it will not work for you."
I may sound campaigning but understanding the truths of God's words are only upon those to whom the Father (God Almighty) has revealed Himself. In our times, He has chosen to reveal Himself, not through prophets, priests, pastors or evangelists, but through His Son. (Hebrews 1:1-2).
The Son is the fulfillment of the Old and New Testaments, if you listen to Him, you will find out how the truths of the Scriptures will come to life because it has already been completed and fulfilled in the life of the Appointed Son.

it's sort of like the old saying, "can't see the forest for the trees"
You can see all the things of this world, hear the gospel truth, feel God in your heart, and never notice the wonder and beauty of it all because you are too busy looking at parts and not seeing the whole.

The hardness of their hearts prevent them from understanding, perceiving and receiving the spiritual truths from God.

As a mother, I know EXACTLY what that says lol.
My kid is sitting at the computer and asks "where is a pencil", I say "right there next to you at the computer". She says "where?" and I answer "next to the computer". She looks around for a computer, I swear she does lol.
