people fear and despise what they don't understand and so they feel like they have to ensure to their worped minds that no one else can possibly have anything that they don't have in their religion.
while there are good people in all religions, those good people who would rather be friends with people of other religions, stay the silent majority and let the loud, prejudiced minority be their voice.

Because some people think their religion gives them special entitlements. Like the entitlement to tell people whom they can love or marry, how they can live, how they should vote, etc. and those particular people have been responsible for most of the wars in history.
It would be great if we could all just live and let live, but right now there's a Christo-fascist movement that has nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus trying to control my government, and that offends me.

regrettably ithas no longer been workingtthat way If yoy quote the gospel or evenn declare your beliefs you'd be mocked and disregarded as a fool. you'd be considered eneducated and be derided. that is a sad situation yet one in which many evaluate that they can make themselves look extra smart through mocking others.

Kinda makes you wonder who is really running religion, doesn't it? If the creator of this belief is all powerful and all knowing then why are its' followers so confused and they don't act like the examples they are given?

They just want to reassure themselves that they are superior to you and that only they know the right path to God. Too bad they miss the point.
