What is the appeal?

Well... I guess it's better to join a church if you want self-punishment than to piss in the wind and end up all foul smelling.

Because we are inherently bad. Doesn't a little child fight over his toy and say, "mine!" Where does a young child learn selfishness that was not taught by his parents? We are all sinners. This doesn't mean we are awful people. It just means we are flawed. All of us make mistakes and that's OK.

We are not going to get to heaven by thinking we are good and can reach a powerful God. He is holy and perfect. We as humans can't compare to that. Christ's blood washes away our sins, faults, and screw ups so that we can spend eternity in His presence. The slaughter is the redeption or sacrifice. The appeal is that God loved us so much, he would allow His son to die for our sake. No one has done anything like that for us. With that, we have eternal life.

That's the appeal for me.

That is an oversimplified and rather warped understanding of Christian redemption. I'm not saying you are warped--obviously some Christians have done a terrible job of explaining things. All I can say is that I know the dark side of myself well enough and there are things about me that are not good. But the way Christianity was presented to me was that in me and every person is the potential for something wonderful--love, courage, compassion, creativity, etc.--and that a relationship with God allows those things to flourish in a way they can't when I am wrapped up in myself (worshipping my self, as it were). And it might surprise you to know there is a whole school of thought that says the crucifixion was redemptive for reasons other than vindictive justice but that's probably more than you want to know in this forum. Sorry; you deserve a better answer.

Just because the truth hurts doesn't make it any less true.

We accept that we are sinners, that we need God to save us, and we accept the "Pardon," the free gift of Grace from Christ, who paid the penalty for our sins, that we would have had to pay ourselves...so because we have faith in Jesus Christ, we don't have to pay for them in hell.

Jesus was not simply a good person, He is God, and God saved us by His act of Loving Mercy and Kindness. If we choose not to believe He did what He did, it not only denies and rejects that singular sacrifice, the only chance at Salvation we have, but is also calling God a liar.

Pride causes the false belief that "any" human being could ever be or even conceive of the idea that we could be more compassionate...humane, or loving, or kind or generous or merciful or forgiving as God. God is Love and He proves that in Christ.

John 15:13-15
13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

I never would, and I am blessed to be in a Christian ministry that shows people that God already forgave your sins, and He loves you. God placed everything you'll ever need, as well as supernatural excellence, success etc, inside you when you receive Christ into you heart.

Sometimes the appeal is that people already feel bad about themselves so these groups, they identfy with and reaffirms those thoughts and ideas.

Take care, God bless

Jhn 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:

Hbr 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Inherently sinful - meaning that we are NOT God. And Jesus was not slaughtered. He sacrificed Himself so that we could be redeemed from our sins.

Jhn 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

It irritates the living sh*t out of me when people always write "we are all sinners." Speak for yourself, willya? No baby is born a sinner. There is no sin because there is no god, anyway...

There is a clinical name for it. The Battered Wives Syndrome. People get comfortable under that door mat.

Religion is not of God.

We all fall short.

That is the beauty or appeal, Christ paid the price.

Upon true repentance, sins are forgiven, blotted out, never happened.

surely, "Vulgar" skill no longer something extra advantageous than "uncomplicated". The be conscious "vulgar" comes from latin, and the concept of a few words being extra helpful or worse than others dates returned to 1066 advert, with the Danish Invasion, and conquest, of england. England, at that element, became populated quite often by using the early Germanic tribes, who nevertheless spoke the germanic languages of their forefathers. The languages have been made out of hassle-free words, and to the Danes, it could have been considered below them, and their latin education, to communicate the language of the uncomplicated human beings around them. by way of fact the Catholic church became certainly one of those efficient area of the knowledgeable ruling society in Europe, the precepts that made their way around the ruling type, ultimately made their way into church dogma. Which words are deemed fallacious are set by using the society that they are utilized in. as an occasion, in England, interior the famous-day, the be conscious Bloody is considered as foul a be conscious by way of fact the "F" be conscious is in united statesa.. and don't concern to call somebody "stupid(Estupido)", or "Lazy (Rabon)" in case you reside south of the border. those are combating words, and in the two cases, at the instant are not considered proper for well mannered society. So, you notice, it incredibly is no longer surely a non secular theory, yet a societal theory, that decides what words are profane, and which at the instant are not. It only happens to be that maximum non secular dogma has a tendency to objective to offend noone, in an attempt to notpersistent the guy away. As such, there are maximum of semi-non secular human beings in our society that are "on the sidelines", with the objective to communicate, only attending church, or have a cursory awareness of non secular overviews of kinfolk members, mothers and fathers, despite, besides as honest devotees that don't opt to offend, that those words get deemed as profane in our society, and faith looks to get the blame for societal view. as some distance by way of fact the words being "vulgar", i assume they could be considered that, yet no longer by way of fact they are considered profane. fairly, they could be considered vulgar by way of fact they are oftentimes utilized by using the common man or woman, exceptionally those with little or no conviction over the priority. tried to be trouble-free. wish this helps...
