I think it's a good way to keep in shape but I don't want to hurt myself.

To prevent injury all the obvious things come in such as comfy clothes, hydrate, decent running shoes, and all the other basic neccesites such as stretching. But honestly using a treadmill is always a bad idea. I'm only 16 but I've tried to run on a treadmill just for fun but i find the treadmill not nearly as hard running outside. The biggest help for that would be to increase the elevation of it but even that will give you a more likely chance to be injured. So overall I don't reccomend using a treadmill at all and neither do my fellow runners or my coaches.

Treadmills scare me because I fell off one once, just be careful and if you get dizzy then get off right away! drink lots of water, and put ice on your legs after you work out for about 20 or so minutes. stretch good before and afterwards, and dont push yourself too hard.

Stretch. Drink water. and EAT Bananas. They are very potassium rich and will keep you from getting cramps and stiff muscles.

well my advise would be, wear comfy clothes, tennis shoes, and a bottled water and run at your own pace.
