Don't listen and don't participate.
If they try to include you say "I don't want to talk about people when they aren't here."
Office gossip can be very destructive and I've worked in companies that were in chaos because the gossip was so rampant.
If I was king of the office, I'd step on gossip hard with big, spikey boots. Imagine all the extra work that would get done if all those hens weren't pecking at each other.
I have successfully gotten gossips to stop trying to engage me by saying "gee, I wonder what you say about me when I'm not here." Usually shuts them up in my precense.

regrettably this seems to be the existence-style of maximum workplaces. I stay as a techniques faraway from it as i will get. The final interest I had even the boss did that. She instructed me each and every form of issues approximately all and sundry else in the workplace. It made me very uncomfortable because of the fact it made me contemplate whether she became asserting issues approximately me to the different workers. (I now comprehend that she became and nevertheless does & i've got been long gone for a twelve months.) while somebody starts gossipping around me I excuses myself & merely say I gotta get lower back to paintings or some thing like that. in the event that they are in my workplace while they do it, I tell them an analogous element. They consistently get the hint. I rather have made some very advantageous friendships right here because of the fact of that. the folk I consume lunch with or bypass out for beverages with do no longer gossip and that they comprehend that i do no longer gossip approximately them. good good fortune.

I would say ignore them, people who gossip about others obviously don't have a life or they'd be too busy to worry about what's going on with everyone else.
You could just tell your boss, letting he/she know about all the company time they waste and what a distraction they are to the rest of you, but that may not work. Or just simply tell them to kindly keep their noses out of everyones business.
Good luck

Ignore them and just do your job. Your distancing from these gossipers may initially made you a subject of gossip too but don't bother about that, once your colleagues sense that you are ignoring them, they'll stop talking about you. Don't get interested to know gossips about others, it is non of your business.

I know it is hard, to but it is best to ignore, office gossip, and folks, that participate in it. If, you can do as I do, I listen to my Ipod, on the job with my ear phone on. It is allowed, in my place of business. Believe, me I know exactly how you feel. It is a shame, that some Adults, never grow up and then they wonder where their children get it from. Hang on in there.

Keep working, if it gets worse, report them, but if boss is a pain, find another job. I remembered I had the same problem at my volunteer work at a hospital, they talked about the most inappropriate stuff...I ignored them...If I reported them I mightve been sent to court...stupid immature grown ups...
I just finished the hours I needed and left the job without saying bye to them because they just didn't deserve the warm greetings and farewells.

Then you must understand that you're the object of their gossip whenever you aren't there! Don't ever participate in such poisonous conversation; its like a cancer. In such situations, I live by a version of the Miranda rights, "Anything you say can and will be used against you, when it benefits them."

I sat amongst 2 women who did the same thing. I was careful what I said to each of them especially if it concerned the other. I chose not to get involved as they might have ended up hurting someone.
