I have to do some house cleaning on my grandmas computer tomorrow so I was wondering what folders I can delete and which would be better not to.

Usually I don't mess with anything having to do with Windows, but there are two folders marked Windows on that computer that I'm wondering if they would be safe to delete. The first one is on the c drive, and is labeled Windows 98. Since the computer is running XP is that safe to delete or does it still need to be there in order for the OS to run?

The second folder is marked Windows in My Documents. I'm wondering if that one would be safe to delete as well.

Anyway, maybe those questions sound stupid, but I make absolute sure before I mess with any stuff like that. My computer is running XP and has neither of those folders so I don't think they are necessary but you can never be too careful.

You are very wise to think before deleting. I'm not a tech, but if it were me and if everything is running smoothly, I would leave well-enough alone.

You could remove them from the Start Menu (without deleting the software). Inasmuch as they wouldn't load at startup, they wouldn't hurt anything.
