I need to be in Brooklyn for a meeting at 11:00. I usually fly or take the train but I am considering driving so I can stay for a few days. I think if I leave @ 6:00 I'll be through CT around 9:30. Not sure any insight would be helpful.

I would recommend staying off Manhattan island at that time of day.
Either take 95S to the Triborough bridge and take the Queens exit. From there, connect to the Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE) south (I-278 S) into Brooklyn.
You could also take 95S to the Whitestone Bridge, cross into Queens to the Van Wyck expressway (678 S) to the Long Island Expressway/Queens-Midtown expresway ( 495 W) to the BQE into Brooklyn.
FDR can be ridiculously congested at 930am

I-95 traffic (especially when you get on the Cross-Bronx Expressway in the Bronx) is NOTORIOUSLY BAD! You can see the trucks lining up stuck in traffic once you get past the Bruckner Expressway (278) exit.

Your best bet (even though that traffic will be pretty bad either way is to take the Bruckner Expressway exit (I-278) and go to the Triboro Bridge ($4.50 toll...$4 with EZ-Pass). Get to the Manhattan Exit, (to the right lane), and once on the bridge, stay to your left for the FDR Drive. Take the FDR Drive and head to the Brooklyn Bridge exit.

I don't know where exactly you are going in Brooklyn but at least you'll be there somewhat quicker than just staying on I-95.
