Do Christians truly believe that Buddhists will go to hell bc they don't accept God? I am Catholic and accept many Buddhist thoughts and attend Temple. Buddhists, esp. monks are such peace loving austere ppl. There is nothing that can justify an all loving God to condemn Buddhists.

I have heard from many who do. Thankfully my father and friends do not see it that way.

When confronted with a Christian who condemns me to Hell, I simply remember H.H. The Dalai Lamas words "be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."
That and the fact that I do not believe in such a Hell helps a lot.

I agree with you. Buddhist don't condemn Christians, so there is no reason why Christians should condemn Buddhist. Don't Christians say, God loves everyone? Well then are they truly following by what God says. Why can't we all just live in peace? Why must different religions be such a big factor?

No, Christians do not condemn Buddhists.

Here's some answers straight out of the bible to help you get a better understanding about where God stands on this:

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

So you see, God is indeed a loving God.

Historically, the Catholic church is the most judgmental of all the different types of churches throughout the years. In the old days The Catholic church was famous for excommunicating and worse for those who didn't follow them meticulously; they still do this today on occasion.

I believe it is nessesary to study your religion and decide what you want to believe. If you are a Christian then you have to be a Christian, there is no in between. The Christian faith doesn't accept others as ok, or "some parts" are ok, no. Sorry, that's not how it works. You need to study both the religions you are debating upon and compare/contrast them. Look at the logic, it is most important. I have been doing the same with a world view class i took this semester. It is a Christian study on all the world views of today and gives details about their history. It compares them and their "logic" to the Christian faith and is totally able to prove a point on the Christian's behalf. It takes Christianity, Secular Humanism, Marxism/Leninism, Islam, Cosmic Humanism (buddism), and Postmodernism and shows in depth their beliefs on Theology, Psychology, Ethics, philosophy, biology, etc. Very informative, i suggest you look into it. It is somewhat difficult at times to understand but it is very worthwhile for the rest of your life. The curriculum is Understanding the times:Christian Apologetics. There is nothing wrong with peace or yoga. It's just that if you accept their ways and traditions then you accept their faith. God does NOT condemn anyone until judgment day. There is Always hope in life. It's up to you to come to Him and He will shelter you under his wing and in Him all things are possible. Isn't it awesome to have the feeling that He is protecting you and that physical evil can cut you from the earth but it has no hold on you for eternity?

God does say that people who worship other gods or disbelieve in Him will meet hell-fire. Actually, we as humans will never know fully if God will punish all disbelievers, until the Day of Judgement. God is most merciful. Denying him as the Oft-Forgiving is pretty much denying his power. God is limitless in knowledge and power. So, anything can happen, we can just pray that all of humanity can one day enter blissful heaven.
I know I am going to get flamed by other people by this, but the Bible is really outdated. Originally it was the Torah and the Gospel. However, they were translated so many times and replaced with different meaning and words by different authors that it no longer is really the Word of God. The last truth is the Quran, and the Quran does confirm that the Torah and the Gospel were indeed the Word of God in the past. However, they were changed so much that they really do not retain their primary meaning. The Quran still remains unchanged after its revelation 1428 years ago. I am not bashing other religions. Just wanted to point this out.
Buddhism has good qualities in that it calls for peace. I remember one of my professors said that he asked some Christian kids at Sunday school where heaven was, and they pointed to the sky. He asked the same thing to some Buddhist kids, and they pointed to their heart. It makes a lot of sense where the Buddhist kids pointed because it is the good deeds accumulated in your heart that lead you to heaven. So, if Buddhists really believed in God, their religion is actually not that different from the religions of Abraham.

Christians shouldn't condemn anyone. We have no right. Regardless of what you hear or see, Christians are not to judge other people. We didn't create the universe and we don't run it. God does.

As a Christian, I clearly have a world view and I clearly have a distinct and specific belief system. I also am more than happy to engage with anyone who wants to know more about it and I look for opportunities (led by the Holy Spirit) to share it (Notice the word SHARE). However, I do not and will NOT judge someone else.

Hope that Helps.

Buddhism is NOT NONSENSE! Perhaps if the person who condemned it spent some time studying it they would learn that a great deal of what Buddhism is about is ethics. What a shame more people don't have decent ethics- the world would be a much better place!

I personally consider myself a sort of Christian/Buddhist hybrid. I certainly believe in Jesus and I also believe that Buddhism teaches some of the best ways to deal with life that Christianity does not really address.

ugh, I hate questions like this. I know what I'm supposed to believe as a Christian (I'm Catholic). I'm supposed to believe that anyone who doesn't accept Jesus as their savior will go to hell. I just have such a hard time with this. I know so many loving people who don't believe Jesus is their savior, and I don't think they deserve to go to hell for eternity. If you're raised in another religion, I really don't expect you to convert just because the Bible says you're going to hell, you know? Catholics believe that if you truly don't know that you're sinning, then it can't be considered a sin. I think people from other religions honestly don't know that they're sinning and therefore can't be punished! I like to believe God is that forgiving, and I hope I'm right...I hate to think that some of the best people I know will be in hell just because they aren't Christian.

There are all kinds of Christians in the world. Some are downright nasty, and I have no doubt they would cheerfully
condemn Buddhists to Hell. Some are more tolerant. It all
depends on the individual.
