It's a scam. The "payment" is usually nominal or entries in a sweepstakes. It will also ruin your credit because it will have so many hits where companies checked it. A lot of the "surveys" are applying for trial periods and whatnot. Stay away from it. There is stay at home work though, you just need some training. Look into some type of transcriptionist, especially medical.

I so far haven't found one that'll pay you a livable amount. I'm a member at 4 different survey sites, and here's how they play out:

Inbox Dollars: Pays you the most only if you spend money. They do send 5-cent-paying "paid emails" but only a few per day, and you can only ask them to send you a check when you've hit the 30 dollar mark. You can also only do a paid survey once per day, and those give you a dollar or less. If you're a big shopper anyway though, they do have some good cash-back shopping deals.

Greenfield Online: You could do 20 surveys every day and not make a penny. If you're lucky enough to qualify for one of the (very rare) paid surveys, you'll get a dollar maybe. Your surveys are rewarded only with sweepstakes entries most of the time. I've been a member for a year and I've so far earned a grand total of one dollar.

Harris Poll: So far, this is the only one with any tangible benefits, but it's not cash, it's gift cards & prizes. You'll make a reasonable amount of points relatively quickly with them but again, no cash - and it's still not enough to live on, you can probably earn a $5 gift card within a week or two.

GlobalTestMarket: They have a point system like Harris Poll does, but they actually convert their points to cash. Unfortunately, there's hardly EVER a survey to do, so you won't get much from it. After 3 weeks I had only 200 points, and 1000 are required as the minimum to get a check sent to you.

So... alot of times they aren't SCAMS (in the sense that they're not just stealing your personal information), but they are totally useless - even if they pay cash, it isn't NEARLY enough to actually make a living with. Stuff like Harris Poll is okay for the occasional $5 restaurant gift card though, that's about it.

I don't know exactly what type of work you are looking for but if you don't mind call center work then you may want to consider working for 1-800-Flowers. They are currently hiring people to work out of their homes as virtual agents and I recently got hired by them! You make $7.00 an hour plus you get a $3.00 bonus for the first 90 days so it's $10.00 an hour. Go here to apply if you are interested:

It says only part time but full time is available as well. All you need is a noise canceling headset and a phone to plug the headset into. And you definitely don't have to worry about this being a scam! Hope this helps!!

Never tried getting paid to do online surveys. But I have been doing an online business for 10 years now and have been home full time for the past four years. Check out my 1 computer based business.

Usually online surveys aren't a scam, but they don't really pay. I took surveys for a year and a half, and at some point, they gave me $3. I was doing it more for fun, so it wasn't a big deal, but you're not going to feed your child with it.

Some places do pay you money, but not much. My DH got $5 and $10 a few times, but certainly not all in one day. I too answer surveys, but most of the time I cant complete them because I dont qualify.

You need to be answering & completing a LOT of surveys to ever make it a full time job. And if you dont qualify for the survey, then you dont get paid.

Its ok as a casual thing, but certainly not for any security.
