the one u use to drain the water from pasta usually. a big bowl wiht lots of small holes. help?

If it has feet it is a colander, if you hold it by a handle it is a strainer, but the terms are interchangeable.

To me, the bigger ones are colanders. Anything smaller and you can use with one hand is a strainer. If it's made of wire mesh though, I call it a sieve.

haha i agree with the "Crash helmet"

my kids are always running off with mine to their play kitchen and then the giggle when i say "ugh, where is it, i need to drain these noodles....DID you take the strainer!"

We call it a strainer because its plastic.

no its called a crash helmet any small child would tell you that otherwise and adult would say it a colinder
