I always thought you to be agnostic for some reason...
Anyhow, I do believe that Satan's main MO really is to infiltrate the family. He breaks up families, people decide that they are better off or fall out of love (ridiculous to me!) Satan is all about our "self" and you see a breakdown of families through divorce, parents taking off, drugs, etc I think media is another influence he uses. Our TVs especially. And its no coincidence that Satan and Santa are anagrams to each other lol. The bible will always maintain. God blessed the writers, scribes, and purveyors of His word here on earth. Lets say it was tampered with, God couldnt possibly punish those who were left with a tampered and "wrong" word of God. Just as He doesnt send those to Hell that havent heard His word (same thing) I always think, If I were God there would be no way I would just plop down a bunch of people and hope they figure everything out for themselves. I would make a book through terrestrial means as he did and keep it safe, so all my creation can one day hear about who made them. Thats my take, albeit long-winded on it.

Every form of Christianity is based on tradition - the Bible is typically used as a proof-text for pre-existing beliefs. And there is no group that is free from a brutal past. It is no more accurate to associate Christianity with Feudalism than to associate atheism with Communism. And the brutalities of which you speak were limitted to a relatively small percentage of the Christian population. At the height of the Dark Ages, the Nestorian Churches east of modern Jordan numbered more than the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches combined.

Satan has been trying for centuries to get rid of the bible all together and also twisting, distorting, adding to, taking from, denying it, and rejecting it. This will always be. BTW, Christianity is not one of the largest religions on the earth but counterfeit Christianity is. I believe there are more counterfeit Christians who do not know they are counterfeit than any other religion on the earth even though I do not use the word religion for Christianity. Nonetheless, this is just my opinion.

The devil has tried from the Garden of Eden to distort and/or eradicate God's word. He has tried unsuccessfully to alter God's will. You are correct when you said, "If I was the devil the first thing I would do would be to mess with the word of God." That's the first thing he did in the Garden of Eden, when he approached Eve with his lies, telling her something other than what God had told her and Adam.

I think that it is possible for the Bible to be mistranslated throughout the centuries. However, knowing Greek and a little Hebrew and being able to read from some original transcripts, most of the New Testament when translated has the same meaning. (Though some are COMPLETELY different in the original form).
It just depends on what you decide to believe, I have faith, but not enough faith to be an athiest.

devil what devil the only thing there is to corrupt it is man and man corrupts everything he touches i am by no means a christian but their holy book dose have a few good guide lines for life ( and a lot of bullshit they stole from earlier religions ) but i mean its been translated from Hebrew to Greek to Latin to old English and now into modern English the original scripts were burned by the church at the council of Nicaea along with several other books they deemed heretical because they did not match what they thought. oh and all of you out there who believe that originally Christ claimed to be the son of god think again his divinity was not established until voted upon by the council of Nicaea 500 and some years after his death. oh and one more thing the christen hell stems from the norse hel goddes of the underworld

The only possible answer to this is by faith that the Holy Spirit works in my heart.
However, in the first place, my faith is a reasonable faith in that the Bible is internally consistent, the working of the Holy Spirit daily confirmed in my heart by its fruits, and the effect of my salvation and election confirmed in my mind.
And secondly, your thesis is much harder to believe. It is hard to believe that Satan, the deceiver would leave in the references to "Father of lies, lying is his native tongue", the many defeats that are recorded of him, the going around "roaring, seeking whom he could devour". It is even harder to believe that he would portray the defeat, humanly speaking, when Christ died on the cross as a stumbling block to gentiles. I would expect Satan to stroke the ego of those who say there is no God more than calling them fools (as in Proverbs), or speak so strongly against the lusts of the flesh "not even a hint of sexual immorality be found among you". I could go on. By your own admission, you are an atheist, and will not "get" this unless your heart is changed. I hope that you receive this in the spirit it is written, and that someone, somewhere is comforted by the answer.
All the best!

LOL you're ruffling some feathers with this one!
as most christians will deny, the bible had been edited throughout time; there are so many different versions and translations, who knows?!?
and as far as 'the devil', that was only created by the christians to scare the non-christians into converting to their religion... if you don't convert, you'll burn in hell by this half human half animal with a pitchfork!

If you're willing to accept that it's possible that the devil has corrupted the Bible, then you have to accept that God is greater than the devil and would prevent it from happening. I realize you don't believe either one; I'm just saying it's not reasonable to accept the one without accepting the other.
Given that we're stipulating the existence of the devil, do you think it's possible that he's blinded you to God's truth?

He does mess with it: Satan uses other people to misinterpret it, to twist it, and to sometimes say that the Bible is a lie.
He knows what to use against people; he knows the Bible front and back. Not only Christians in this world read and study the Bible. Catch my drift?
