Freedom of religion isn't quite what it used to be. We are all welcome to practice the religion we wish. But those pratices are interferred in and questioned more than ever.

Homelessness- In California alone 94,000 people are homeless on any given day. The horrifying thing is that the majority of those are women and children.
Health- The US has one of the poorest health care systems in the world, even though it is one of the richest. The health care system is privately owned which means people are turned away if they are sick or dying because they cannot pay the hospital.
War- The US (currently) is fighting a "war" on nothing. So about 3,000 US soldiers have died in the battle for oil, while over 15,000 Iraqi civilians have lost their lives. The president of the US is corrupt and so is his left nut Cheney. As we speak, there are papers in the Judiciary committee seeking to impeach Cheney.
Global Warming- Everyday we use up the earth resources, water is very scarce and the radiation caused by chemical plants is disturbing. The sad thing about this is that power plants are located in low socioeconomic communities killing off the poor first. What the rich do not realize is that if we keep using up our resources there won't be enough money in the world to buy them drinking water.

Sweet thing. . .so much is wrong with the US (and the rest of the world) that I will only give you a few suggestions:
morality is forgotten (a married person does not think much is wrong with having an affair, the getting caught is the bad bit)
any religion is to be applauded except the Christian one.
Mountain Top Coal Mining is ruining the Appalachain mountains.
Rivers are being polluted so that fish die and the water is all but unfit to treated and made potable.
Public transportation is all but non-existent in the rural areas, where it could be very successful if the populace would get off the "every family needs 2 cars" jag.
Politics is a joke (corruption, folly, arrogance . . . and on and on)
