Most chihuahuas come in the first heat around 10 months old then the 2nd heat 6 months later never breed till after the 2nd heat and never breed a chihuahua if she is under 4 lbs over 1/2 of chihuahuas need a c-section to give birth the smaller the Mom the more this chance goes up.

Never unless you are actively showing your Chihuahua; dog has champion bloodline, you have a mentor to give you guidance and you are breeding for the betterman of the breed.

It takes about 2 years to complete championships & to go through the conformation ring.
If it is just pet quality (less than a couple of thousands of dollars) it should NOT be bred. If it a pet it should NOT be bred. People who breed their pets are known as BACK YARD BREEDERS & they are a disgrace to dog breeders who breed for quality.
If you do not have a quality dog YOU are making more geneticly messed up pups. Don't breed a pet. NO NO NO Do not breed a pet. Unless it is a quality pure breed that carries a hell of a lot of Champions in it's blood line.
AKC or any other registry papers does not make a quality dog. Good solid blood line do.

Minimum of 2 years. You need to get the knees x-rayed by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals to ensure that they are not likely to produce pups with luxating patella, which is oh so common in chihuahuas.

Two years, and only after they've been screened for genetic diseases, and only if they are ambassadors of the breed.

two years is the recommended age, therefore, your pup is fully grown. I would recommend having your pooch checked for any genetic diseases before you breed.

Oh please don't breed your dog. There are a zillion chihuahuas already in the world that don't have homes.

If you're asking this question you are obviously not a registered breeder, in which case your dog should be desexed and not bred from - EVER!
