When I was 15, I was tricked by a person I thought was my friend, into going to a private home where I was beaten until I "gave my soul to Jesus" I had been raised Quaker and had never been hit in my life until that time. They thought Quakers didn't believe in Jesus and weren't christian. I am 50 now and a wiccan witch. I do not hate christians anymore but it too a long time for me to find my right path and lots of help from my friends here on YA to give up the hate that I felt for christians. My friends here who helped me were pagan or atheist. A lot of christians won't acknowledge the fact that this sort of thing happens in the good old U.S.A. but it does. Does this come under being offended?

I am a Christian and I too have been insulted and offended.
It does not really bother me I just think how sad that they are not open minded.
I would never insult another persons faith, if you have a strong faith and are happy then good for you.
Take no notice of small minded closed people they are not spiritual and dont want to understand the true mystery of life.
This is one of the reasons why I left church, since that I have become closer with God and His Angels, and my life has taken on a new meaning. I am now beginning to understand
what I am all about, and I also can understand and have empathy for others. Being a Christian should be about love
sadly some Christians have their noses stuck in the Bible and just quote and quote but dont actually know what Jesus was trying to teach.....but that is just my opinion.
Some people are going to get a dreadful shock one day.
And I dont believe in Hell.....so take no notice. Godbless.xxx

First I am sorry that some one was SOOOOO ignorant at to condemn you to Hell....Bible DOES NOT teach a Hell doctrine by the way.
Death is how each of us pays for our sin. So when you die, your sin full mistakes are paid for.. Read the Bible, New Testament.
Romans , Chapter 6: verse 23...For the wages sin pays is death....
See when we die, our sins are forgiven, our death paid that price.
Now to answer the rest of your question.
I can get more thumbs down by reveling my Christian Religion, than you can by reveling your pagan religion!
I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses, we will not do Christmas it is Pagan, we will not do Easter, it is Pagan, Halloween,You must know the pagan origins I am sure.
Let me say that and watch the thumbs down. Catholics re- invented those old pagan holidays to convince pagan tribes to convert to Catholicasm....O.K. or be burned at the stake!
But true Christians do not celebrate, or go to war and kill other humans. Or touch little children the wrong way, or steal, lie, cheat, gamble, drink to exes, or smoke at all.
In the early 1900's we were tared and feathered, beaten to death, and driven from our homes in the United Stated and Canada because of our beliefs in Peace, and Christ being our ruler not human governments.
Yes, I am sorry for you that you receive a Similar treatment, even if I believe your beliefs are wrong....Human rights should prevail!!!!!

I try not to be, but somedays on here I feel like banging my head on the wood work until the house shakes because of the idiocy of some people. In the real world everytime my Aunt comes over I just don't bring up the subject of religion or a fight ensues -- then my Mother gets upset and that I *do not* want.

Nope. I'm lucky with that. All my friends are pagan, and plenty are Heathen. The only time I get offended is when people claim Freyja is the same person as Athena, but even then I usually bite my tongue.
Now here, I get don't offended as much as I just get irked. I can't stand hypocrites and this place is full of them. Hail thier own god while insulting other peoples and then smacking the report button as hard as they can if some one fights back. They are playground bullies. I couldn't stand them on the playground and I can't stand them here. But hey, whatever.

Nope, but I've been offended by some religious beliefs that I consider to be insane, such as the whole "being gay is evil." I lived in Utah for a year when I was 15, and culture-shock is the only way to put it. Mormons tend to be very conservative and closed-minded, I was shocked that ppl still thought that way.

I'm christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, and rasta...lol! No really, Love is my religion. I read texts from all religions and pretty much believe they are all the same with different idiosyncrasies. However, it is most definitely the fundamentalist Christians that offend me or are offended by me every time. For example my baptist family cannot stand it when i discuss energy and chakras and i can't stand it when they tell me the only way to be "saved" is to pronounce my love for and belief in Jesus Christ (who was the embodiment of love energy) as the ONLY path to God over and over and over and over and over....I mean jeez--Jesus wasn't even what he was called when he was alive. Everyone knows that.

Yes, here and in the real world. I just tell them (in a condescending tone) that we witches/pagans do not need the threat of "hell" or "the devil" to keep us in line like Christians do. Then I walk away before they can reply.

I've been told that I was going to "hell" for my religion. I have also gotten threats of violence by some of the more EXTREMIST Fundamentalists when I lived in New Orleans (The justification they used was "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" although I am NOT a witch, but a Pagan.... )
