I have a anatomical lump in my skull bone behind my left hear and it has been there since my scull formed. When I put glasses on, the ear piece fits directly over this bump and it leaves so much pressure, I have to take the glasses off. It about drives me crazy.
What do you think I should do? I need glasses to be able to see since I am now in my 40's. I push the glasses up about 1/2 inch to get over the bump and I think it makes me look like I am trying to be silly. Have you ever heard of anyone doing this before?

Go to an experienced optician for an adjustment. If it is still a problem try getting a frame with a "skull" temple. This type of temple hugs your skull rather then go around or behind your ear. Both Oakley and Nike have nice designs for women with this type of temple. Good luck!!

I so agree with "seenotes".
Find yourself a good "adjuster" like some customers would jokingly call me and stick to the same person for dear life since those are hard to find.
Have you ever gone to get a haircut and from the moment they grab the first strand of hair you know if it's going to be a good haircut? It's pretty much the same with a person adjusting your glasses. If you are not satisfied with the adjustment, say thank you and go on the the next place or politely ask for the most experienced person in the store (I would not take that as an insult if I was the person you asked).
Or, you can come over and I will happy adjust them for you. :-)

Absolutely! This is not as odd as you think- and many people are not as semetrical as one would think either. The glasses can be adjusted by a good, tenured optician that is good with frames to fit as if that ear is higher than the other, which would compensate you bump, and make you much more comfortable.

You're not alone at all! Talk to your optician, let them know exactly what you 've told us, they should be able to adjust your frame accordingly. OR look for a frame with a library temple, these are the ones that don't wrap around your ear... that may alleviate your discomfort also.
