They are just jealous because they don't have the will power. I think its refreshing. Just because everyone else is whoring themselves with someone who doesn't love them, doesn't mean you should do it to. I'm proud of you actually.

Im not saying anything to sway you one way or another, but Im just letting you know that I am 20 and I am too.
And I have had a bf for the past 3.5 years that I am head-over-heels in love with, and we are commited to each other. We're waiting because we want to save that exciting element for marriage.
I guess Ive seen a lot of my friends end up either pregnant or in unhappy relationships because they had sex with their boyfriend- not that this is always what happens, but many of the relationships I have seen end up this way...
My suggestion would be to find someone who has the same mindset about sex that you do, and date him.
And btw, I think that your friends and your mom sound immature. I mean, Im sure your mom is great and all, but I cant believe she said that to you.
Keep yourself for a loving relationship and you will have fewer regrets. Good luck

Wait for the right person! You are not pathetic at all, Not quite sure why your own mom would want to subject you to all the bad things that could happen if/when you do sleep with someone. Now days it is unheard of for someone to wait until after high school, but you are being SMART....there are WAY too many things out there, you could get a diseases, become pregnant....blah blah etc...etc....I say you are awesome for waiting!

There is absolutly nothing wrong with being a virgin at 19. I was a virgin until I was 18 and I regret not staying one longer. I will always have to remember my first time as a bad experiece, because it wasn't with the man I really love and want to spend forever with. It is worth waiting for.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING A VIRGIN AT 19! Don't do something because "everyone else" thinks its time. You are in charge of YOUR life and You know when YOU'RE ready. Be 100% sure you're in love with whatever guy it is you decide to loose your virginity to because you want your first to be someone you really really care about. Not some hot guy you met at a club to have fun with for one night.

Kudos for waiting and not giving into the pressure to just get it over with. I personally believe in waiting until marriage (for myself) but the analogy I give to people is "Would you rather do it to get it over with/receive pleasure NOW, or wait until you have someone you love, where it will be an experience that is pleasurable in every way?" I think it is appalling that people are calling you all sorts of names, and you'd think that people would be more supportive of your decision. Stick to your guns though. Don't let anyone try and force you into losing it before you are ready. And for your MOM to tell you to "test the waters"?!? That's just low in my eyes.

Not at all. That is a personal decision. If others don't like it, that's their problem. And the last time I heard s-l-u-t was a bigger insult than virgin. Wait until you are ready. Rutting just because everyone else thinks you should robs any emotional significance from making love.

No I think it's real sweet. I was 14 when I lost my virginity to a man I was with for 6 months although I didnt love him and god do I wish I had waited. I think it nice to make love with someone you really love its more romantic, plus if you sleep with someone you dont love you may regret it and I found you end up feeling emotionally attatched to the person you lose your virginity too so its better if you love them.
Good luck!

I am 34! I must be REALLY pathetic!
I hope you are not thinking of giving in at this point? You have waited 19 years, what are a few more?
I REALLY would like to find someone to lose it with but I still want it to mean something!

No that is a good thing. If you can find a male the same way that would be perfect. The first love is always in your heart, an that is the best way to find respect and to love someone.
