My female dalmatian chews on herself. She is loosing hair, especially from around her neck area where she is unable to chew. I clean her and her bedding to make sure she doesn't have fleas, and I put on medication to stop the itch, and soothe her skin. Nothing seems to be helping her. Anyone have a cure or suggestion?

Take her to the vet. Itching and chewing can be from anything from allergies to autoimmune problems

The same things that cause itches in any kind of dog or cat - many different things!

OK for starters, keeping your dog and her bedding clean is not going to keep fleas away. Cleanliness has nothing to do with whether you have fleas or not - fleas like BLOOD, not dirt.

This does sound like fleas. Please get her some proper flea treatment from a vet.

Also important to note is that if you have a problem like this, you need to ask a VET about it. Not Yahoo Answers, and not people in pet stores - they're salespeople, not medical professionals. Your dog could have mites, bacterial/fungal infections, allergies, fleas, hormonal problems - how are you going to know which it is and how to treat it? Not by asking on here, I can tell you right now!

Take the dog to a vet. Find out what vets are for - helping you when you have questions about an animal.

i had a dal for 10 years and he would get similar spots. i began using a oatmeal shampoo for him and the spots diminishes after time,( i would bathe him everyother week w the oatmeal shampoo.) u can get it at the vets or a pet store, walmart used to have it but its been a while since i looked.. if he is a cuddly dog, make sure it isnt comming from ur cologne or detergents. also, check where he roams outside to see if there isnt something that could cause the rash.

could it be sensetive skin? the shampoo you use? A friend of mine has a sharpei that is allergic to corn in dog food. I would take her to the vet and have them maybe do an allergy test.
