WHAT?
Ask him to show you the scriptural support for that.

Jesus says nothing about anyone being a soldier for him. Please refer to the Gospels on this.
Jesus says nothing about bowing, either, especially not to the Bible, which did not exist yet during Jesus' lifetime.
I'm not sure how you are supposed to focus on the page you are trying to read if you are also doing calisthenics.
I strongly recommend finding a pastor who is less inclined to make such notions up out of thin air and then pass them off as Truth.
Good Luck !

I am a christian myself. i used to go to a church where you couldn't even wear shorts or somebody would say something to you. God knows your heart. It doesn't change your heart bowing while reading. It'll just put a kink in your neck. If you are going to church where a Pastor is telling you how to worship God, wether in song, prayer or reading, then maybe you need to find a different church. You won't be serving God if you just do what your Pastor says. We all have different ways to praise!

I don't. I don't want to take the chance of passing out while I'm trying to read it. It is a very long book.

No, I don't bow as I read my bible. I thank God for His word. I thank Him that He reveals Himself to me...but I don't bow, while I read.
Do you?
