It doesn't. That's really all there is to it. My marriage is completely unaffected if two men or two women get married.
And it's not like heterosexuals have done a great job at preserving the "sanctity" of marriage...

Because all the straight people think that it will affect the population. What they don't understand is this:
1. Not everyone will turn gay.
2. If we can make babies in test tubes and clone sheep with 3
females and no male, we will soon have the technology to give
two gay men a child of their own.
3. This country is overpopulated enough! We don't need everyone
to have little kids to crowd this world more.
4. Christians don't listen.
And straight people do the same thing gay people do anyway! So, the real question is, why do people have to be hypocritical!

Does it?
I thought closet homosexuality threatened marriages that weren't supposed to take place in the first place, more than homosexuality itself.
Anyway, whatever gave you the idea that something two consenting adults do within their bedroom threatens a marriage of people who live miles away?
... unless of course, one of those people is in that bedroom.
In that case, I would probably have threatened more than one marriage in my time. And I'm not even homosexual.

It's a form of entanglement, in which a devout and much-respected pastor - let's call him Ted - who's married but secretly gay, just can't take the lubricious visions running through his head at the thought of those happy couples.
So he buys a lot of drugs and pays muscleboys to do him up the Gary.

What I was told is that "our kids will think that's alright". They don't want their kids to think it's alright (nothing scientific to this...).
This is what I was told... this is not what I believe. But it does absolutely nothing to anyone elses marriage. It doesn't "break down traditional Christian values" - if you want to keep "traditional Christian values" then YOU KEEP THEM. But quit trying to tell everyone else they have to keep YOUR religious ideas so you can feel "happy" about yourself. The "sanctity" of my marriage is kept by my husband and I. The couple down the street has absolutely NOTHING to do with it.
Ugh, I can not stand these hypocritical religious people who whine about homosexual marriage, but are working on their 4th friggin marriage. It's such bullshit.

It doesn't threaten any marriage--straight or otherwise. I'm married to a very wonderful woman who has given my life more meaning than I had ever thought possible. If my gay neighbor down the street decided to marry his... "life partner..." it wouldn't affect me or my wife one iota. Not one.
Of course, wouldn't these holier-than-thouers be embarassed if gay marriages enjoyed better than the 50% success rate claimed by "straight" marriages? I think so.

Poopoo (nice name)-What are you talking about? I get grossed out watching straight people make out too. No one should be making out on the street.
Just because something grosses you out doesn't mean we should be taking away people's rights. I would get grossed out if I saw a dog eating his own poop, but we're not going to tell him he's not allowed to poop anymore.
Regina- I'm totally not being disrespectful, but not everyone is Christian. If you're Christian, then marry someone of the opposite sex, but if not, then why should you have to.
