i was at Christian camp 2 years ago, and we were having a question/answer time and some guy asked if masturbation was a sin. he said he had asked the question before but had never gotten a direct answer. after some of the teens took the mike and put their 2 sense in on the matter, and some of the leaders spoke, the conclusions was this. sex outside of marriage is wrong, and dirty thoughts thinking about sex is also a sin, and when you masturbate, that causes you to think about sex and picture yourself doing it, and therefor masturbation is a sin. while i was at camp, i had never masturbated before, but now, 2 years later, i find it quite pleasurable, but i always feel guilty afterwards because i feel like i'm sinning. can someone help me here (from a Christian stand-point,i know atheists are gonna say nothing is wrong with it,and it's natural, just like they say sex outside of marriage is "natural".and no atheist wise-cracks about brainwashing, etc. your answer will be ignored). thanks.

The topic is not specifically addressed in Scripture. Does it glorify God though?

1Cr 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1Cr 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

The Catholic church effective has a manner with messing up someone's huge wide awake. I went via a lot comparable to you different than i became on my own with my huge wide awake, it became poor , thinking if I ought to confess or no longer the embarrassment,I never want to bypass lower back there. i'm effective I gave some undesirable strategies to a clergyman. i do no longer think of God cares,i do no longer think of that's a sin. that's a wellness out enable for you, till you're arranged for the duty of a relationship. Now, to have intercourse and not be able to take on the end result (infant) because of the fact each and every time you have intercourse you may desire to probably develop into pregnant, it rather is a sin. BTW all and sundry masturbates at one element their lives.

No, even if the catholic church insists that it is, there is NO biblical basis for that belief.

In the Old testiment there is only one story that even REMOTELY addresses the issue. The rest of the bible is totally silent on the subject. In that story a man dies childless. According to the law at the time, his brother was then required to sleep with the dead brother's wife and give her a son to take care of her and so that his brother's line would not die out. The living brother has sex with the woman but "spills his seed on the ground". He is then struck dead by the wrath of God. This one verse has then been taken totally out of context so that some can claim that masterbation is a sin.

The only problem is that the man wasn't masturbating (he just practiced coitus interuptus) AND the actual sin was not the seed spilling. Rather it was his failure to do his duty by his brother.

There are many instances where the church has a TRADITIONAL stance on an issue that is not biblically supported. The stance on masturbation is one of these.(Another example would be the ban on priestly marriage. All the disciples including Peter {traditionally believed to be the first Pope}, most priests, and even most Popes were married until the 6th or 7th century.) This is just one more example of the self-righteous trying to "improve" upon the laws of God. I am of the opinion however, that since masturbation was apparently not important enough for the Bible to mention, it isn't important enough to forbid either.

Well it is making you feel convicted so I would really abstain from doing it then.Put some worship music and just do your best.We all have sexuall desires its a God given need for all humans.Unless you are given the ability for celibacy which is a rare gift.Don't obsess if you are a young person about feeling bad.Gods mercies are new everyday.Try to keep away from sexually explicit movies and music videos that stirs it up.Bless your heart that so wants to bless God.And don't live under condemnation we all fall, but we get up and keep pressing into God.Shalom

No it is not a sin. It's perfectly natural. I was raised Catholic and I know the RCC's stance on it is that it would be a sin. It's a better and more safer alternative to having sex. Just my view.

According to Christianity we all sin, masterbation would be just one more sin amoung the many that we all do on a daily basis, it's nothing to worry about, it's just the way we are. Live your life the best you can then ask for forgiveness for being human at the end of each day and you should be fin.e

These are my Thoughts:

If the Bible don't Address it, it is between You and the Lord.

Plus:
The Bible says "Be Angry and Sin Not".
Then the Bible says "Put Away Anger".

See?

First you work at being angry and not sinning.
Then you work at not ever getting angry.

See?

Yes, it is a sin. Don't avoid it. It's true. Sorry, but that's just plain fact. If you're Catholic, then you should get Confession before you get Communion.

To the first guy who answered, it is considered "adultery". It's just like "abortion" is "murder". Same concept. CuL8r, and God bless.

No. Because it involves sex, people try to make you feel guilty about it.
