free education, free health care, no taxes on income, citizenship for anchor babies - it's easier to get free stuff than to fix problems in their home country

Because it is on their way to Canada. They aren't here to HELP the US they are here to take ADVANTAGE of the USA. Now they are taking advantage of Canada.

They do it because Mexico and South America suck. No opportunities, corrupt governments, corrupt police, shabby housing, lack of food, poverty.
