No. Charles Manson had actually been given the death penalty that was overturned in his State before the sentence was carried out. He would have been a crispy critter way back then. Instead, he was given life in prison.
The fact that he has a possibility of parole is no real threat either considering he is a Narcissitic Personality Disordered person who will always defeat the likelihood of that ever happening, considering his psychotic and sociopathic demeanor.

On January 15 1971 - Charles Manson and his followers were sentenced to death.

However, in 1972 the California Supreme Court abolished the death penalty.

As such, all death row inmates sentences where commuted to life in prison.

So technically, Charles Manson should be dead.

P.S. the death penalty was re-instated in 1976. However, all the prisoners whose sentences were commuted in 1972 continued to serve life without. The re-reinstatement of the death penalty did not re-instate the prior death sentences. But for a lucky break with the Supreme Court, Charlie would be hanging out with Lucifer and the gang.

Charles Manson needs to be kept under lock and key for his own good and for the good of the public.

I would like to think that long and life serving prisoners are looked after really well by the authorities and are allowed certain privileges depending on their behaviour in jail.

A little bit of time spent outside regularly breathing the fresh air and seeing the sky and nature as well as good meals and something to keep them entertained and occupied should be permitted when appropriate.
