I'm trying to eat healthier and thought I might like to try arugula. I never watch Rachel Ray but happend upon her show the other day when she was finishing a meal that called for a salad with arugula, lemon and something else. It looked interesting. I don't really like veggies but I do like lettuce and baby spinach in salads. I also like celery and carrots...but that's about it as far as stuff for salads I've read that arugula is bitter. Do you think I'd like it? Should I mix it with other greens like lettuce and the baby spinach? Also, is it expensive?

Arugula has a peppery taste. At first I would add a few leaves to your regular salad of spinach and lettuce and then gradually increase the amount. It is also delicious on top of pizzas, pasta or just alone with a bit of olive oil and balsamic.
It is a bit more expensive than spinach, maybe fifity cents or a dollar more.

I bet you'll like arugula too. I don't think it's bitter, just peppery. Like you put a little pepper on your spinach. A cheap way to find out is to grab a prepackaged bag of it (like near the bagged salad mixes) and try it out. Around here it's about $3.50-$4.00 a bag. Mix it in salads, or even replace the lettuce in sandwiches with it for a nice kick. I've even made a pesto with arugula.

The only way to find out is to try it. I like it, in a salad. It isn't all that bitter, more peppery, but try it for yourself....just order a salad with it in it, if you don't like it, pick it out.
