If you notice that ALL the toys with lead in them are made in china. It may be tough, and more expensive, but if I had young kids, I would look for stuff that was not made in china

There are more and more things coming out like http://www.greentoys.com/. Unfortunately, the ones on this site aren't available yet, but will be soon. They are made from bioplastic that is made from corn, and FDA approved as safe although they still shouldn't be eaten. ;)

You can choose some wooden, etc, toys from http://www.fatbraintoys.com/toys/toy_categories/green_toys/index.cfm

Good luck! It scares me too. I don't know what else to do. I would just watch out with wooden toys too, because if your kids are young enough that they still put everything in their mouth, you would want a safe finish on the wood as well.

Well, your children would have to have consumed several aquadots to get the effect of a commatosed state and such. No, you really don't need to worry. The government is now trying to do more than ever to prevent these out of the country corporations from producing hazardous toys. If you're really that concerned about it, you could buy video games that they wouldn't have to come into contact with, or just watch out for the warnings. These recalls usually make big news, so as long as you watch out for them and buy age appropriate toys you're pretty much safe

I hate to burst the bubble here. Make sure you buy very high quality toys. Wood is treated with a number of chemicals. High end wooden toys are made of what is considered "food-grade" wood. So it is safe.
You can't go through life worrying. Look at everything we did as kids and we all made it. Our parents smoked and drank while pregnant with us, we didn't sit in car seats once we could walk and we never wore our seat belts. The slats on our cribs were too far apart and we didn't wear helmets when we rode our bikes.

On the Today show this morning they said they were going to put a link on their website about these toy recalls. There is a website that you can go to to check out specific toys that have been recalled. So go to http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prerel.html Which is the consumer product safty commission. This link can be found on the today show website as well. Hope this helps

try looking for things that dont have any small pieces that looks like thy would break off and the kids would swalow. those leap frog learning toys are always good for kids, they are learning at the same time that they are playing (and having fun) with those little games. if you have a little girl buy her some dress up clothes, they love that stuff. there are a few sites out there with lists of safe and non-toxic toys. just google "safe non-toxic toys" and tons of web sites will pop up. here are a few ive been looking at for my nieces and nephews! Good Luck

if there are any problems with these products you find the manufactures will recall them, stop worrying and just enjoy having such small children, they'll soon grow up and want a PlayStation or box and you'd have forgotten what you was worried about.
