If God was acknowledged, people would have to live as though they knew they would answer to him one day....People would have to live less selfishly....Its far easier to convince oneself that there is no God so they can feel accountable to no one..

Some people don't need to. I don't worry myself with all that stuff. I enjoy each day and am grateful for the opportunity to be on this planet. I try and live the way my heart tells me is right. Frankly, I think it is disgraceful to spend too much time worrying about an afterlife and a creator and Iif there is a god I think he or she or it would be disappointed that so many people spend so much of the gift that is life on worrying about all that crap. Sorry. I don't think any "god" would put us here in order for us to worry about the next life. That just doesn't make sense.
For the record, the Bible has NOT been "proven scientifically correct"' - I don't even know what that means. I can tell you that the Bible HAS been traced back to very early texts, which would make those texts the original source for Biblical tales and if you believe the biblical tales to be true then you have to accept the rest of the stuff those texts say, so that means there were many gods at one time on this planet and they were probably aliens. The original flood tale says that the flood was allowed to kill off most humans because the gods were screwing the women and having halfbreed babies. Those ancient texts also say that those gods created humans by manipulating their genes with the genes of primitive beasts on this planet. Sound too fantastic to be true? Well, since these are the texts that predate the Bible, and they are clearly the same tales that are in the Bible, then wouldn't logic dictate that these texts would be even more accurate than the later stories that made it into the Bible? Like I said, why bother worrying about it? Enjoy the life you've got now!

I really get a kick out of reading these kinds of questions and actually evaluating peoples responses especially when it comes to a topic of religion.
First of all Breon, many don't believe in God because they have that choice. Whether or not the bible is scientifically proven correct or not, people will still choose to believe what they want. After all, God did give us free will. Another point I'd like to bring about is, I'm assuming here, but if it were indeed proven correct, wouldn't that mean that there would be more believers than there are now. Think about it. It's a proven scientific fact that oxygen exists and that we require it to breathe. We know it exists by scientific fact, yet we can't see it. Which ultimately leads us to believe that it EXISTS simply for the fact that it's scientifically proven. Believers of God are lead by Blind Faith, which is what God asks. Seek and know Him without needing scientific proof that he may or may not exist. It all boils down to blind and unfailing faith in Him.
Second of all, Peter D, if you took the time to read the scriptures, as I'm not saying you haven't, but it doesn't strike me as you have, BUT God did not kill Jesus. Even then Jesus had a choice to walk off the path that was chosen for Him. As did Moses and yet BOTH made their choice according to their beliefs. They BOTH continued on their path regardless of crises they endured.
Things I would be considering as truth. In the Bible it states the Ark of Noah rested on the peaks of Mt. Ararat.
Scripture:
Genesis 8:4
And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
News of researchers finding the Ark. Guess where.. You got it. Mt. Ararat
And question, if it was written centuries upon centuries ago yet is falsified by man as some say, how did this come to be so. Now imagine if there's truth coming to light of scriptures in the bible, how many wonder what else could be right. If I wasn't a believer already, I'd be asking myself some questions.

I can't speak for all atheist and non-Christians, but I don't believe in God because there's no evidence or satisfactory arguments, at least to me, to convince me there is a knowable God. I'm also not sure that Jesus was actually a real person instead some mythological compilation. And the Bible has not been proven to be scientifically correct. Don't listen to creation "science" because it isn't a science at all. It already assumes the answers and then tries to contrue phenomenon to fit their ideas, and that's opposite of how actual science works.

People don't believe in God, often because of the way traditional religions define God. People do believe in God, that are not christians. God has inspired many religions, and religious people, all over this world, and is still inspiring people, with new and better spiritual ideas. More people would believe in God, if we had a broarder definition. People are different, and tune into God differently. People need to find the definition, and image of God that works for them. The one size fits all mentality, needs to stop in regards to God.

??? I think you have been misinformed. The OT, when take literally, has actually been ripped apart by modern science.more than any other religious text ever written.
Beyond the logical fallacies of your religion, you worship one of the most twisted creations of the human mind. Your deity represents the worst of a pretty primitive barbaric culture. One is which women are stressed as inferior, slavery is condoned, and violence is often encouraged for Martyrdom, all of these appear many times throughout the OT.
Going further, we can trace religion back much further than Judaism. Religion first evolved as polytheistic and pantheistic, monotheistic religions in general are rather new in the scheme of things.

Why should it matter to anyone whether another person believes in God or not.
John Lennon said it best "Live and Let Live."
Do What Makes You Happy and allow others the same. :-)
Jesus taught it this way:
Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You

What delusional world have you been living in? Nothing in the Bible has been substantiated by scientific proof so if would be good if you could back that up with some actual facts instead of just spouting non-sense.
And for the record, people have their own personal reasons for not believing in God. Just because you feel it's the way doesn't mean you should expect everywhere else to.

In what way has the bible been proved scientifically correct? I think when you try to answer that you'll likely find the answer to your own question.
===
If you're talking about the existence of some of the geographical locations then this proves very little beyond the fact that someone writing anything at that time would have spoken of actual places. This argument proves the Greek gods just as convincingly.

I would be interested in learning how the Bible (note the initial capital) has been proven scientifically accurate. Can you direct me to any information on that topic?
