Yes, and Galileo's persecution had nothing to do with whether or not he believed the world was round. It was discovered prior to that that the world was round. The problem with Galileo was the pope at the time when he wrote his theories that discounted geocentricism, which was a belief espoused by the church that is NOT found in the Bible.

As a sidenote, Jesus seemed to know that it could be day on one side of the world, and night on the other. How would He have known that?

Most people have known for MANY years that the world is roundish.

It's in the Bible as well as sea currents, atomic mass, and the benefits of specific hygienic and eating habits. During the Dark Ages the Europeans attacked the Jews because of their God given knowledge. They claimed that because Jews weren't rapidly dying from pestilence and disease they must have been the blame for it. The Jews had better living practices thus, didn't die near as much from the plagues (it's called scape goating - the same way people blame Christians for their problems today). They are still blessed as a people. Albert Einstein was but one of them.

On top of that is a structured guideline to follow so that people would learn to live with and love each other. They didn't listen.

He knew the earth was round. It was lost during the dark ages when the Catholic church took over and destroyed records. Only a few came through that prosecution. Job knew the earth was round and so did Jesus. Jesus knew some will be working in the fields while others would be sleeping at night.

Galileo didn't discover that the world is round, neither did columbus. It was actually known that the earth was round (and it's rough size) in the time of ancient Greece. The problem with navigation was not a flat earth with edges to fall off, but rather lack of navigational ability away from land (and the belief that there was no landmass where America is.

The bible even states that the world is round. Hate to tell you this, your history teacher lied to you. Columbus was no big genius and the church wasn't really opressing people about this.

Yes he did, there is an arabian Gospel where you can read that, but you know it is considered a fake gospel but is very interesting because there is the whole history about Jesus Childhood.

He came to teach the kingdom of God

Mark 2:17
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

People were ignorant about alot of things at that time. We're not at the center of the solar system either. Sick people don't have demons in them..BTW, JC has no interest in astronomy.

Of course he did. But if Jesus didn't let us figure stuff out for ourselves, then we'd never learn anything.
