You will have to pay 3% state wage tax, 3% medicare tax, 6.5% Social Security tax, 0.5% unemployment insurance tax and possibly 1% local wage tax. 14% of $12 is $1.68 per hour.
You may claim 3 on your withholding for the IRS. You may not owe any federal income taxes. You can go to www.irs.gov. Look for instructions on how to estimate 2008 income taxes.

It really depends on if you have dependants or if someone can claim you as a dependant. Check with your local social security office they can help figure that out.

you need to do 12*40 and then divide the product by.05 which is tax.
this would get you to $96.00 off of that $480, so therefore, you would make $384
