Actually lead poisoning is a slow death, so technically you could be sick. But then again, everything is made in China so I wouldn't worry.
I also have mugs made in China, & here I sit, typing away.

Don't be overly concerned just because it was made in China.Have you heard of a Spook Ball made by Gemmy Corp. in Texas,U.S.A. .It is a halloween decoration and was never recalled even though it contains cancer causing agents.WHY NOT?The only caution is on the back of the packaging and it says to wash your hands after holding the ball.Do the Texan manufacturers are going to wash their hands after holding it? If it is safe enough to hold simply by washing your hands then why not use the same standard with Chinese goods.As a update many of the toys that were recalled were recalled due to DESIGN flaws which would have made it an AMERICAN problem.Check out the internet and see for yourself.To me it seems to be a god way to incite fear in consumers just before the critical Christmas season.Everything from baby bibs to magnets to small beads.Pencils that are safe when used as a pencil ,yes you are reading this right.Tiny beads that may be a choking hazzard .Does anyone supervise their children at play anymore?

I wouldn't worry. The mug is glazed and fired in a kiln (at about 3000 degrees). It's not paint. If the mug is from the 1970's or earlier, you might have an issue with lead frit in the glaze, but I doubt the mug has been waiting to be sold for 30 years. (glaze is basically melted glass, by the way.)
