I have a bull terrier and her anal area seems to be bothering her terribly and looks raw and my pit's butt is raw on top like were the tail starts. Any reason why this is happening to them both at the same time? Maybe the weather?

Could be many things...
Allergies, but it could be fleas where the dogs are contantly biting in that area and pulling out the hairs.

This could be an anal gland problem, Go to the vet. There are two glands on each side of the rectum, from time to time they will fill up with bacteria, causing discomfort to the dog it will bite at the rear and scoot or butt surf across the floor. When they do express them you will know because it is a very distinct odor. I would suggest you take both pets to the vet to make sure. Good Luck!

* Worms are a possibility also, if they have tape worms they will also scoot and lick back there allot. Tape worms are worms that look like little white grains of rice in the pet's stool. You can usually see them yourself. They are formed by the dog in-jesting a flea which causes flea larvae to form making the tape worm. Either way they need the vet.

this happened recently to my pit bull.. my vet told me allergies. that my pit had been bitten by a flea (not infected, just bitten!) also...it can be caused my an allergy to corn. a lot of pits are allergic to corn and the problem could heal by changing to a food that lacks corn.
But most importantly, I'd ask my vet...could be a different allergy...none the less your pets are very bothered by it and I'm sure its everywhelmingly annoying.

There are all sorts of things that could be happening, including mange. Get the dogs to a vet and have them checked out. If it is mange, it can be fatal if left untreated.

It sounds like they've both got worms. Worms make the dogs bum itchy so they drag their **** on the ground to scratch it leaving the bum red raw. Worms are highly contageous so one of your dogs probably gave them to the other. Contact your local vets and he will give you worm tablets for them.

Wash your hands after touching them, you dont want to get them yourself!
