I have been told that Atheists are lost and unhappy. And then I looked at the Christian who said that and replied, "No, I don't know how to get to the Denny's on University Ave. and I am happy to tell you that".

I'm not exactly religious, but I'm not really athiest either. Atheists are people who don't see any proof of God and don't believe in much more than perhaps The Big Bang Theory... apes flinging crap at each other from trees, eventually evolved into humans. That begs me to ask why apes didn't evolve into humans, too? Why did they stay apes, but we didn't? Were they a lower form of ape? Ones that will eventually turn into humans and be in zoo's rather than controlling the world? Hard call to make...
I have my own ideas about religion, but they're not what you asked for.

I have never been told what to believe about atheists, I have made my own opinion from the ones I have met and I am forming an opinion of them now from reading their questions and answers on this forum.

where I live , being Atheist seems to be the norm
we are more shocked when someone says they are religious
seriously
so I never thought about what an Atheist is or isnt , or heard any rumours , lies or anything like that
I am just surrounded by people who dont believe in God ... but besides that they are friends, family , neighbours and general folk

I have been told they are rational and logical people, but I have a mind of my own, and from my own experience I have seen beyond the hype of this secular society. Don't believe everything you are told is now my motto, and it has proved to be very true concerning atheists. I now know that atheism is totally illogical, and also that most atheists know very little about science, even though they constantly harp on about how science supports their beliefs.

Let's hope CNN isn't their primary informative source.
Edit: To the person above me: What? Atheism doesn't 'vary' from person-to-person. Atheism is a the absence of belief in any deity. Anything else relating to the person has nothing to do with them being atheist or not. You either ARE atheist, or you're NOT.

The only people that tell me anything about atheist, are atheist themselves. And they all tell me something different, go figure.

That they have no morality/have better morality than God
That they are rebellious against God/that they honestly don't believe God exists
That they are religious/that they aren't
That they are malicious and evil/that they are more loving and socially conscious than theists
Frankly, I'm not sold on any of the extremes. ;o)
