These 2 guys are a corrections officer and a marine - both about 24. I thought they'd be cool. I'm a 33 year old homeowner with my pregnant wife and I'm about to lose my mind with the indifference I've encountered in exploring my options with the police. I was out on their lawn discussing the problem (rather calmly I'm proud to say) with one of them at 2am. They've agreed to keep the noise down (the noise at this point coming from their custom exhaust - buzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!) and have informed me that the party this weekend to celebrate their moving in will not bother us either (wow I really hope not). The police say they cant do anything until they send a car DURING the incident. They won't catch these high pitched exhausts. I want to follow the law here so any responses with "dude, kick some ***" you can keep.. I'm also in a position where that would be extremely detrimental to me. Posting this is one of the myriad ways I'm trying to just shed this excess frustration.

You could raise your concern at a city council meeting or contact your local city councilor, or mayor and point out the lack of response by police department.

In this way your effectively using your elected officials to embarrass the Police Chief into action.

Alternatively you or your wife could take the crying newborn out into the yard at 7 in the morning and wake these two knuckleheads.

Sorry to hear about your neighbor troubles. The only advice I can give is to have a video camcorder out and ready when they start making noise. If the noise is loud enough it will definately be picked up by the camcorder. Then call the cops. When they show up and the noise has stopped, play back the tape. If that doesnt work, take the tape to the police station the next day. Usually you get better assistance in person.

If you don't have a camcorder, I think its time to buy one. With your wifes expected delivery it would be nice to catch that on video as well. :D

Get a camera where you can document the events.
Police are generally unconcerned with citizen complaints such as noise especially when it involves other Leo's
Document the incidents report them. Then if nothing is done
report them to your city councilman/ county commissioner.
Cheers

I doubt there is much you can do unless it is constant and habitual. If they have a loud car running for 30 minutes in the middle of the night, you could call the police for noise disturbance. But if they just come home late and the car happens to wake up the whole neighborhood for a minute or two, well, that's just being rude, and it's probably not illegal.

Usually one of the local TV stations love to hop all over stuff like this. They take a camera out there and tape the bone-head roaring off in his load car and then ask the police chief on camera why he is ignoring this issue.

Do the news thing like the first person said. i understand what you mean but they aren't really breaking any laws. everyone doesn't think sensibly like you do. people aren't considerate of others and especially if they just moved there then, of corse they want to party. they are celebrating.
