Oh man, this happened just the other day.

A friend of mine's dad died. And they weren't a really religious family, but thought a church would be a nice place to hold a service. It was a low key event. Some of his friends talked and told stories. There was no real religious aspect to the thing. That is until the Preacher decided to talk.

This was a preacher who didn't even know the guy. He decided to get up there and basically give a sermon. He talked about 2 or 3 things that others had said then started comparing things to Jesus, and God, and blah, blah blah, and how Jesus saves, and God's love. Then he started talking about Creation and worship. It was really sad because he was turning a nice service for a guy where his friends were talking nicely and telling stories and turned it into a sermon.

It basically sold me on the fact that I never want any part of my death to be anywhere near a church.

Christians, depending on the group or religion, usually don't try to convert you. It's just that they like to talk about all the interesting things they learn and all the ways it has helped them. If you don't want to hear it anymore and arent interested the only thing you have to do is say it. Next time someone goes to your house or starts talking to you tell them your not interested and you don't want to be visited anymore. My advice to you is listen to them first. If you do I'm 100% sure you won't regret it. You'll be happy you did and this can go either way. 1-You're glad you heard them and you know now that you want nothing to do with these people or 2-You might even want them to teach you about their beliefs. This doesn't mean they want you to convert and trust me if they do try to convert you asking you to get baptized right away or if they charge anything don't hesitate to turn them down. The only reason why they preech is to obey what Jesus asked of his disciples in Matthew 28:19,20.

Question. If you are soooo tired of Christians why do you ask questions under "Religion"? You know full well what is going to be discussed here yet you continue to ask questions, make comments. The simple thing is this. Everytime the name of Jesus is mentioned that person is witnessing for Christ whether they like it or not. So you coming here asking this question is in fact witnessing for Christ. So good job. The best way for someone to not know about a subject is to not talk about it at all. Talk about it and you pretty much gave them the option to accept your beliefs or to not. That not could mean that they become a Christian. And we don't convert, we tell you what God has told us to tell you. Your own spiritual intellect is what convicts you to convert to Jesus. So I can't convert anyone. It is your own self who must convert yourself. If you keep asking questions like you do you might very well lead yourself to Christ. Amen to that future brother in Christ ;)

I am not tired. I haven't been approached too often. This one, however, makes me smile:

Have you seen Jesus? Yeah, dude, I just saw this guy with a beard wearing a robe go into that building over there.

I am going to have to refrain from some of the worst jokes I have heard over the years... Or maybe not.

Did you hear that Christmas is canceled? Mary confessed.

Did you hear that Easter is canceled? They found the body.

This one is really bad, so read on only if you have a strong stomach. These Christians are REALLY PUSHY.
Once a Christian asked me if I needed help changing my tire.
I accepted and he talked to me about God.
He changed my tire and that was nice because nobody else offered to help.
How dare he mention God.
I wish he didn't help me and that I was stranded and killed.
How dare those stinkin Christians be helpful.

I had an extremely long and heated argument with an idiot jerk from my old school, he insisted that the catholic church was the greatest religion, that they were very accepting and that i should become one. This is despite my saying that i was an anglican and was therefor not allowed to have communion there. And my true story about a little boy who cried because the priest wouldn't accept his christmas gift of shoe polish.

No one has ever tried to convert me to any religion. What I am getting tired of, in here especially, are all of the idiotic, inflamatory questions asked by the atheists. Do they really think they're going to convince any Christian to abandon their faith in God and substitute what only comes across as mean spirited babble?

just as tired as they are of me trying to convert them to Paganism...

An example? Well, there was this once when a group of Protestants who tried to convert me. I tested their knowledge about mythology and theism, and when they told me that Jesus died for my sins, I told them I never asked him to and that I as a pagan don't know sin. Then, I reminded them of the origin of Christmas and Easter to top it off...

I had a great time!

Aviator: Using a church just because it's a "nice place" for a funeral and expecting it to be a non-religious event is like going into a department store and being shocked to see people buying pants.

That's what a church is there for. If you don't like it, stay out.

I Am!!! Practically everyday...people preaching about god on the subway, or handing out their Watchtower magazines, or giving away Bibles outside my College, or even ordinary people I know saying that it's better to be saved then go to hell, blah, blah, blah. It's non-stop, but I think I've learned to ignore it.
