You can probably start by contacting the department of health in the city where you were born.

Do you know where you were born? That is the first thing to know for you to obtain your birth certificate. Ask your mom, if you can, what county you were born in, aside from the City and State. If she knows the name of the hospital, then even better. (If not your mom, can you ask an aunt or grandparent?) Then, look that entity (it will probably be the county) up on the web. It will direct you about where to go to/where to write into to obtain your birth certificate, if there is one. Good luck to you.
