Blame their pastors propaganda and their own tunnel vision. The more the leader can con them into recruiting for him/her the more money there is in the collection plate. P. T. Barnum said it, "There's one born every minute."

Not a theme. A characteristic. God is love but if you look at 1 Cor 13 it says love protects. Psalm 91 is called the protection psalm. Jesus is coming back to put down a worldwide rebellion. A father would use force if necessary to defend his family. In nature the same holds true. It is not an anomaly. It is the way of life. Nations protect themselves from perceived threats. Laws mprotect citizens from criminals. Hey!!! I guess we do have a theme here. It is called justice.

You already have some great answers here. The real battlegroud is in the spiritual realm, that we cannot elucidate nor comprehend with our limited minds. It is only when we awaken our spiritual eyes with the infilling of the Holy Spirit, becoming part of the body of Christ, that we will see what is really going on above the tangible. The spiritual battles always have a victor, and that is Jesus. If we put our trust in Him, He will go to battle for us and win, all the time! I consider this sense of discernment a gift from God. Thank you Jesus!

We are warriors in a spiritual war. We are here for a specific reason! To be deciples of the Lord and to go out and make deciples of the Lord. God would love to have the entire population of the world become inheritors of Heaven, and we as Christians are responsible for getting the word out and bring forth new believers. What if someone close to you died and went to hell because they didn't know about Jesus? We have a job to do, we need to let people know that they have a God that loves them so much that even the hairs on their head are numbered and he is so awesome that he gave us a savior, so that they to may inherit eternal paradise.

The war is a spiritual battle. Satan is trying to destroy the salvation of every human being on the planet.

Christians have received the gift of faith, and it is their duty to spread that faith. This is a difficult battle, in a world where Satan has deceived many people into opposing Christ's message of love, salvation and eternal life.

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Because they are taught that every day is a battle for godliness, and the godless world is on the attack.

Tell that to a child for, oh, 16+ years and it tends to stick for good.
